Thee Oh Sees vs. Pussy Riot is some bullshit. Same with Pond and Mount Kimbie.
Also I'm hoping QOTSA open for Jack White not the Killers.
I'll put together my own sometime tonight
Just to give people a heads up I saw Pussy Riot at Day For Night, and it was entertaining, but not what I was expecting at all. Not far from Katy Perry concert, very poppy and gimmicky. I want Queens to Open for Jack too, I actually will change that. I originally had Jack on Friday, but moved him to Saturday hoping he'll have a 2 hour set like Mumford last year.
he/they '12 - Firefly '13 - Firefly, Made In America '14 - Firefly, Made In America '15 - Mountain Jam (Sunday), Firefly, Pitchfork, Made In America '16 - Boston Calling, Firefly, Osheaga, Made In America, Roots Picnic NYC '17 - Boston Calling, Gov Ball, Firefly (Sunday), Pitchfork, Day For Night '18 - Boston Calling, Mountain Jam, Osheaga '19 - Form, Firefly (Sunday) '22 - Boston Calling, Firefly '24 - Solid Sound, Soundside
so Belly the rapper is playing at Coachella? Belly the band is playing this? Belly the ___ is playing Gov Ball?
Does anyone know for sure? Is this not the same act for all three? Or different?
Belly the band needs to put a cease and desist on Belly the rapper because this is ridiculous and they've been around at least 20 years longer than this schmuck.

QOTSA can't do Friday anyway, playing Rochester that night. So it works out for them and Jack to both do Sat. Either way I think Jack's the only one who would get a 2 hour set
EDIT: Also Khalid has to be Sunday and This Is The Kit has to be Friday. Gonna keep a running tab in the OP
So, who do you guys plan on seeing at BC? I'm going for: Eminem(depending on what he plays at coachella), The Killers, Jack White, QOtSA, The National, Paramore, Tyler, The Creator, Fleet Foxes, St Vincent, The Decembrists, Brockhampton, Royal Blood, Manchester Orchestra, Dirty Projectors, Thundercat, Belly, Julien Baker, Alvvays, The Menzingers, Oh Sees, Perfume Genius, Noname, Alex G, Citizen, Pond and Charly Bliss. Sucks that there are gonna be a lotta conflicts most likely.

The only artists I have no interest in seeing are Bryson Tiller, The Menzingers, and Citizen. So it'll really just depend on the schedule

We cant be friends if you have no interest in the Menzingers - if we pass each other, you don't know me and I don't know you

To be fair, they're one of the few artists on the lineup I don't really know. I just didn't vibe with the two songs I checked out last night. It's not something I would actively avoid, but it's not something I'd seek out either
Maybe I'll converted through listening to this playlist
Do you just not like anything he's ever done? Because I wouldn't really call like, Hotel Yorba or Steady As She Goes unlistenable (or Temporary Ground, I guess) even if I were to take an aggressively liberal view of what "unlistenable" means
I don’t like The White Stripes at all. Not as bad as his new stuff, but I still can’t listen to it.
I’m definately in for at least a day of this, or potentially all three days if I can volunteer! A few of my old coworkers at the (now defunct) Boston Phoenix runs this festival, so I might be able to make it happen this year I’ve reached out to them to see what I can do to help. I’ve been following this festival since it’s inception and I’m proud of how big it’s become
Thankfully there’s a bigger rock presence in this lineup than some of the others - there’s a lot on this lineup that I really like! I’m a big fan of Jack White, QotSA, The Killers, St. Vincent, PTM, Thundercat, The Decemberists and at least a handful more
Also, everyone is allowed to have their own opinions, look, I love Jack White, but he’s weird as hell lol
He’s certainly not for everyone

Jack White live is so different from any of his projects on record. It is so much more raw and psychedelic and raucous. Head over to YouTube and find his set from Roskilde in ‘14. It’s magic.

I don't know if I'd ever describe Jack White or his shows as "psychedelic" and White Stripes shows were way more "raw" and "raucous" than anything he's done since.
But yeah, anyone who likes his music should absolutely see him live because he's one of those guys who just fucking lets loose on stage. He's a fucking monster. I'm curious to see who he's recruited for his band this go around.
this is more balanced for my taste but sunday is still woof
Even then, Westside Gunn & Conway -> Noname -> Stormzy -> (alcohol) -> St. Vincent -> go to Eminem because everyone you're with wants to wouldn't be a bad day at all.

BROCKHAMPTON.
Also, was curious about what Dirty Projectors 2.0 sounded like live. This is cringey.
Feeling out potentially doing this fest...what's the vibe like? Young-ins like govball? Overly crowded? Hard to get to? Any info from past experience to convince to go or not

Man, on paper I should love them but it just hasn't really hit with me. I like some of their stuff, and some of the other shit... nah. If the mock was the schedule, I'd at least check out their set during alcohol.

Never been to GB but I feel like the age range here is more widespread, though there's definitely a healthy portion of the 16-25 Urban Outfitters crowd
I don't think it's overly crowded, but last year (first at new venue) had some logistical problems with crowd movement, long lines, etc. They've openly addressed this, so hopefully those issues are mitigated this year.
Getting to the fest depends on where you're coming from, but it's almost exclusively accessible via public transportation/Lyft. No parking nearby.
The biggest issue vibe-wise tends to be talkative/disinterested crowds, especially towards the end of the day as the crowd fills up for the headliners.
Overall though, if you like the lineup enough and the logistics of going aren't too much of an issue, then I definitely recommend it. It's not the best festival out there, but you'll be able to see more than enough good music to make it worth it. Also Boston's just a great city to spend some time in, so if it's an option I'd suggest booking an extra day or two to do some exploring

Yeah I've done Shaky Knees the last three years but Killers are a top band for my girlfriend and I doubt I'll get to see Eminem unless I go to a fest he's at. My concerns are the cost to stay anywhere near Boston. What are folks recommendations/experiences with lodging and how much did you pay/how'd you get to the fest each morning? Thanks a ton!
The White Stripes > The Raconteurs > The Dead Weather > Solo Jack White
Meg is the anti-Charlie Watts. She keeps time about as well as a $3 watch bought from some guy selling them off a card table down by the fish market in a part of town some people would call seedy, but others would refer to as filled with colonial charm and historical significance.
So, no, I don't put The White Stripes anywhere near the top of Jack White's endeavors.

Good point. Jack White has always been about everything being perfectly together and Meg was just always fucking that up

You can easily travel by MBTA to the festival, so anywhere close to a metro station will work in terms of lodging. Red line is ideal though.
