Tyler, the Creator/Vince Staples tour dates:
2/18 – Montreal, QC @ MTELUS 2/20 – Pittsburgh, PA @ Stage AE 2/21 – Rochester, NY @ Main Street Armory 2/23 – New York, NY @ The Theater at MSG 2/25 – Washington D.C. @ The Anthem 2/27 – Detroit, MI @ Masonic Temple Theatre
Looks likely that BC gets one or both. Would be Vince Staples' 3rd show in a year in the city though....
He was incredible opening for Gorillaz this summer. Crowd did not know him or get his performance though, which was a huge bummer, since I was jumping around the whole time.

Vince also played BC in 2016, so I could see them passing on bringing him back so soon. Still very down for Tyler though
Looks like Fleet Foxes will be at Shaky Knees. Part of me really hopes BC gets them as well, but I also feel like it'd be a shame if Boston misses out on a proper headlining show from them two years in a row.

same. Would you still go if it was the same underneath but the top was Metallica/ Kendrick/ LCD?

Just checked Setlist.fm and, unless the site missed a show, Depeche Mode hasn't played anywhere in Massachusetts since 2009 and hasn't played Boston since 1986.
They certainly seem overdue for a Boston area show.
As far as a huge headliner, could Justin Timberlake fit the bill?
I feel like it's more likely someone a little on the older side who the Crashline guys have more emotional attachment to and thus are overstating how "big" they are. But I'd love for Timberlake to play a festival I'm going to as it's probably my best chance of seeing him
What if the big headliner is also the number 1 at gov Ball and Eminem. Personally I'd skip em. I'm still hoping for the Cure (even at number 2) with the rumors of them touring due to the 40th anniversary

Yeah there aren't many realistic headliners I'd completely skip, but Em is one. I just have no interest in seeing him. Maybe I'd go on the ferris wheel or something. Or they could schedule Bjork or someone at the same time on the blue stage. That'd be cool.

This idea is enough to make me not want to go to this fest. The brotastic Mumford day crowd last year was awful enough. I'm not sure 90% of those people had ever been to a concert.

They posted another photo saying they double everything. Bathrooms, entrance lines, food vendors, etc. That's pretty damn cool. I think I'm more excited about this lineup than anything else right now.

That sounds great, but it doesn't really square with the new map, which suggests that they're using the same amount of space this year. If they're not pushing out the boundaries of the portion of HAC that's being used to accommodate the new things, that just means that everything's going to be even more crowded.
Also, don't know if it was an oversight, but the map does not show the long row of porta-potties behind the Blue Stage bleachers.
I'm strongly leaning towards VIP, for the easier bathroom access and guarantee of reasonable distance from every stage.

It's interesting that they show the arena on the map, but haven't said what it's going to be used for this year.
They're between a rock and a hard place, in one regard. The comedy lineup was a short-notice scramble to make up for losing the film festival, and it was a smashing success. So much so, that I can't imagine them dropping it for a film lineup. Yet, how do you say "forget it" to an accomplished actress and Harvard grad who is expecting a rain check from them.
My best guess is that they'll do both...films earlier in the day, comedy later.

I'd rather see it become an EDM tent. Could be a spot for day sets with good light shows and also could thin the crowds at the other stages and hopefully pull the college bros and talkers away from the good sets. I like comedy, but I go to music festivals for music.

It seems like 70% or more of the arena capacity is fixed bowl seating. An EDM tent is a good idea, but one best suited to a big single level open room for dancing, standing, jumping, etc.

I'm pretty ambivalent on what they use it for. I enjoyed the comedy, and would probably enjoy the film too, although I think it's a slightly tougher sell because even short films require a bit more focus and investment than comedy.
I'd also be fine with them putting music in there instead, although I don't think BC really needs a strictly EDM stage. There was only one EDM artist on the lineup last year and I don't think I encountered much of that crowd. I found the worst talkers to be the high-school/college crowd who were mostly there for Mumford or Chance, which in all likelihood won't change unless BC decides they want to make a lot less money and become a more niche festival.
