My favorite event (Bonnaroo)... My favorite band (RHCP)... They're starting with Can't Stop... They always do... My music snobness still misses John Frusciante though...
Yeah. Sorry JR. I thought it was Joeyt posting. Haha. Check it out though. Even between the hit shit Flea, Chad and Josh will be wailing. Intros and interludes. So far a very entertaining and headliner worthy performance just with some songs I don't need to hear. Anyone hating on the performance though is just being cynical. Clearly Flea alone could headline anything. And with everyone on and having fun, hatred would be suspect.
I've never see RHCP so I don't understand the hate, but they're killing it! Great live presence. But honestly, them headlining Bonnaroo only 5 years after their last is kind of silly. Either way tho it's a great show.
People love to hate. RHCP always brings it. People say what they will about Anthony, but he has one of the most distinctive voices of the last 30 years.

I was with a buddy of mine from Austin at that and we will disagree for the rest of our lives on that show. I loved the fuck out of most of it. But the effort tonight is awesome. I've been with those mfers since like 1984 to One Hot Minute and then about half the time I get to see them. I'm glad I tuned in for the set. I think they still have some jams in store.
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts

So am I the only one who thought that RHCP were like... really bad? Laughably bad? It was almost like a 'RHCP shreds' video. I really thought I was watching a joke or something.

But...What if I like shredding? With that said tho, I wish somebody else would have been headlining roo.

I passed out early last night, so just catching up with the stream now.
RHCP aren't terrible by any means, there are much worse choices out there. Anthony's vocals just kill the show for me (that mustache could probably do it alone, tbh). Flea still knows how to rock though, he's stood the test of time.
I find I actually enjoy the instrumental sections of the set quite a bit. They really should just relegate Anthony to dancing around the stage.
I just can't get over how absolutely terrible every single artist I've seen on the Other has been. Absolute trash.
I must be officially old now.
I am getting ready for Claude VonStroke to come on in 20 minutes, looking forward to that show. Curious to see how the Other crowd reacts to him.
I haven't cracked a beer at 6:45 am since Bonnaroo, thought it appropriate today. This Claude VonStroke set has me feeling like Bonnaroo, might as well join that Bonnaroo spirit.
The crowd was super thin at the start, assuming everyone was at Major Lazer. The people looked like they couldn't care less at the start too, they were just rail for Big G. It only took a few minutes, and now the crowd is starting to groove and fill in.

Agreed on the instrumental parts being the highlights, although I'll give it up for Anthony in that is probably the best I've heard him in a long time. As for The Other tent, yeah. I liked Herobust but that's just because I like to see him live. It's nothing special. Parts of Big Gigantic were good, some was boring and tedious. Everything else was, turn it on, turn it to something else almost immediately.
Did PtM really play two songs twice in this set? Lol
Yeah, Purple Yellow Red and Blue. They did Feel it Still twice here back in April. Not sure what's up with it, as I was too drunk to realize if it was a reprise. I just went with it like they taught me in Cheech and Chong's Up in Smoke.

Feel it Still and PYRB twice in this set...pretty weird considering they have like 75+ songs to pull from. Maybe they felt like they played them early in the set so most of the crowd didn't hear them yet?
I talked with my two oldest. Middle kid said U2 by far was the best set though Chance is up there, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Umphrey's last night was great. He caught a bit of the superjam but didn't want to miss any of UM. He said that he figured out Chance to my daughter's generation is like them to Lil Wayne where she and her friends know literally every word to every song. Apparently she met them at Umphrey's late so she could see Chance do Nuthin But a G Thang which she of course loved. I'll catch up with her later, but I'm sure Chance is #1 for her and U2 though she did tell me yesterday she actually got emotional during U2 so maybe it's a tie.
Oldest said U2, Chance, Red Hots, Angelique Kijdo were his favorites so far. He also said Umphrey's was great and thought it went until around or after 4ish. He said they didn't do 2 sets but did walk off and come back for an encore. Everyone thought Portugal was great and also Cage the Elephant was fun. Late nights have been better than they expected. Also, they haven't been over to The Oasis late night. He said since they ditched Kalliope, they just leave it to artist discretion. He said they'd heard fireworks going off there 4/5am, so they figured there was some shit happening.
Looks like they'll be all be hitting Umphrey's, some of Skepta, Flatbush Zombies, badbadnotgood, Travis Scott and Blue Grass Siutational Superjam. On TV, I have Royal Blood, Umphrey's, San Holo, Flatbush Zombies, badbadnotgood

It was... not good. I don't know what it is about Keidis as he leaves middle age, but as the dogged, sexual intensity that he exuded in the 80s and 90s abates, it becomes more apparent that he doesn't have much else to fall back on.

But is he the main show? It's Flea and Chad for me and obviously Josh is settling in fine with them. They are polarizing though for sure as I and many people I talked to here on inforoo and on the phone and in text loved it or at least appreciated the rock and roll aspects.
Also, to the point about Anthony, at least he didn't come out with a sock on his dick.
I saw their interview but missed the set. Imho Lightning Bolt is the best I've seen, but Death From Above 1979 was also Killer when I saw them. I like this set. And lol at that big dude crowd surfing. He probably never thought...
