Of those listed I'm most interested in The Revivalists, Allison Krauss, Roger Daltrey doing Tommy (very interesting), Tedeschi Trucks, and Isbell & Hiss Golden Messenger

I was shocked to learn Pat McGee band was still a thing. A thing that has enough fans to play WolfTrap at that.

Hey itrainmonkeys can you move this thread to the show folder? It started as a thread for a fest and morphed into a show thread. Alternatively we can lock and restart.

We went to see PJ Harvey there last year. That place is awesome.
Damn. The number of country shows announced at MPP so far have been crazy. I think it's been 6. Can we get some other shows, please? Lol.
I think most of the non-country shows are being absorbed by the Anthem. Modest Mouse, Beck, Fleet Foxes, etc. all played Merriweather on recent tours and now have Anthem shows within a month of each other.
I like that the Anthem is a better option than Echostage for bands too big to play the 9:30 club and it's cool that Lorde is playing there instead of Capital One Arena. But it seems to have taken away a lot of the good stuff at Merriweather.

How much of a competitor is Live Nation's Jiffy Lube Live to Merriweather? And would you say that Merriweather is a better venue overall than The Anthem? I'm somewhat new to the area so I'm still getting absorbed into the whole live scene here.

Depends on where you live and what type of music it is. Merriweather is an absolute bear to get to for me, and leaving there can be really really tough if you dont nail it right. However it is a vastly superior outdoor venue to Jiffy Lube so music that needs to be experienced more outdoors is better there than the Anthem.
