I wonder if Saturday ends up being when the majority of the rock acts play, including the Killers and Arctic Monkeys. Fri/Sun end up being predominantly pop and rap.

That would be interesting. If I could get some combo of: MGMT Royal Blood Chromeo Middle Kids Everything Everything Lord Huron Chicano Batman Lukas Nelson... LIGHTS
Bunbury is pretty crappy, but I would have loved to see Incubus, Front Bottoms, and Gang of Youths on the lineup.
Would have really liked to see Peter, Bjorn and John
Really? Everything I read so far people were going bananas for Bunbury. I could be wrong though. I do like it and I wish we had Jack White again, but for the size of their lineup, I think it's pretty decent.

Clearly a festival aiming at the 16-22 yr old market. I'm not surprised people in the Firefly FB group like it, but it's not gonna be impressive for a lot of people here. For my personal taste, they've compiled the worst group of headliners I've ever seen.
There's some good bands in the undercard, but it's sharing a lot of the "experimental" 2017 Firefly lineup.

turned out to be a pretty big move on FF's part - it's somewhat risky putting a band like AM on the top line(definite HLers in Europe, but US is iffy), but seeing as every US fest is some combo of the same 6-7 names, they have something to differentiate themselves. Even if they play Lolla and Osheaga, they have an extra 3 months to sell tickets to AM fans.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
Am I the only one who was kinda unimpressed with Arctic Monkeys 2014 FF set? They were tight and Alex sounded incredible live, but their energy seemed to be a little stifled, maybe because it was a midday set. Also, I know this won't be popular, but imo their music is good, not great.
03/14 - Thievery Corporation 04/25 - Black Country, New Road 05/04 - In Flames, Gatecreeper 05/10 - Modern Life is War 05/21 - Spite, Bodysnatcher, Thrown 05/29 - Knocked Loose, Loathe, Show me the Body, Speed 06/02 - Bush 06/22 - George Thorogood 06/23 - Dillinger Escape Plan, Deadguy, Candy, Carbomb

I think they were turned off by the mass of Foo Fighters fans huddled at the front. My guess is they're a more energetic band when the crowd is there to see them.
i loved their set in 2014. felt it was a terrific lead into the Foo Fighters.
It was a great lead-in to the Foos. 2014 was arguably the last great year for Firefly. I'm not hating on their set so much as I am questioning why AM seems to be the saving grace for FF this year to a lot of people.

2014 was the last truly great year for the majority of the multi genre US fests. 2015 saw the decline was coming and buy 2016 they fell off hard.
Yeah, the trajectory of American music festivals has been truly saddening the last couple of years. At least I'm old enough to have enjoyed the end of the American fest renaissance (2010-2015). Firefly is practically in my backyard, so its pop bullshit leanings nowadays are especially depressing for me considering how it started as an Indie/Alt Rock fest.

Who on the lineup do you consider to be pop? I do think there is a decent amount of Pop in the bottom of this lineup but not the first 4 to 5 lines as much

alt-J playing Forest Hills in NY on Friday the 15th with an "immersive sound show".
Sounds awesome and I assume they'll bring it to Firefly as well. I'd pencil them in for either Saturday or Sunday then. I guess they could also headline Thursday Night.

aren't they also playing mountain jam? forest hills friday, mountain jam saturday, then firefly sunday makes the most sense.
so then the next question is, are they a main stage sub or lawn/backyard sub? For Sunday, main stage sub is between SZA and Alt-J
Lil Wayne, Sza, Logic, Foster the People.. I mean, even though they fall into rock and hip hop categories as well, it's extremely mainstream music.. not to mention 2/3 of the top 3 lines are repeats. There's no great indie rock acts reppin, like Spoon or Tame Impala in past years. The only act in the top 3 lines I want to see that I haven't already seen (at Firefly even, exc. Alt-J) is Foster the People, which is pathetic.

Good Call. So 4 of Firefly's Top 10 are already set for Sunday then: Kendrick, Odesza, Alt-J, SZA.
