Always a supporter of The Lone Bellow because they are my favorite and they are releasing new music this fall.
Margo Price Chris Stapleton Brandi Carlile
Also - My group is very seriously considering doing a house next year instead of two motel rooms ---- anyone have any recommendations? Where do you rent from and how far from the fort do you stay?
So, our group grew this year -- we went from 6 in 2016 to 14 this year. We booked an Airbnb just a few days after tickets went on sale (approx. November 30th) to see who would actually commit, but still could have probably used a bigger house after friends added on with success on Lyte. We've stayed at Portsmouth the last two years -- it's about 20-30 minutes from the Fort. Both years we've had waterfront properties; this year with a private beach. Although I'm always so jealous of the after-parties + I keep swearing that I'll go to at least one the following year, there's something really nice about heading back to a quiet house on the water + grilling out while blasting the music from that day.

that sounds perfect. We typically hang in the lot and grill at our car after since the line to get out of the parking lot takes forever anyway. But this may be a new tradition. Time for me to obsessively track friend attendance and airbnbs for the next few months. Did you host not care if you had extra people on air mattresses?

I'm assuming "We're in" means "in agreeance", not "We're booked". Unless Jay asked them already. Which is actually quite possible. He said in an Instagram post "...to the crowds singing with Choir! Choir! Choir! on Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" in sweet ragged harmony... it's our participation that adds to the lore of this festival." So he (and everyone there) was clearly moved by the set. I think we can lock this down.

Some acts I would love to see next year...
Arcade Fire Andrew Bird Joanna Newsom Conor Oberst (or MoF) Charles Bradley Langhorne Slim Lady Lamb Leon Bridges Jeff Mangum (or NMH) Pixies Talest Man on Earth
I don't honestly know if any of them are putting music out next year, though some did in the last year. I just really wanna see these acts.

Peeps who said they already got tickets, how? Did something get caught in my spam filter that I missed? We already have our place lined up and would love to guarantee tickets this early, thanks!

This was part of Newport Festivals Foundations's new membership offerings -- I believe a $150 membership grants you guaranteed pre-sale access for 2 tickets, newsletters, + being on their member advisory board (aka sounds like you can voice who you want to come, etc.) + a $1,500 membership tier guarantees 2 tickets, newsletters, swag, after-party opportunities, being on the member advisory board, etc. You could only join on site at this year's festival though.

Ah, thank you for the response! I guess we will be gambling with the rest of the sorry folks this winter!

It was $100, up to 1000 peeps- if exceeded they would lottery draw and you would only be charged if you were picked. Got the acceptance email Monday evening.
With early arrival leading to getting great parking spots and early outs it made a big difference. Still the idea of renting closer is something a few of us poked a stick at monday. For any that have had larger groups 15-20 would like to hear what ya'll do. we are about 10 minutes out from the Portsmouth townline.. would have to get considerably closer to make it worth it overall. My can't sleep dream is to win a bazillion in the lottery and buy the farm that borders the park entrance road.

Like what, renting a big ass condo in Newport or Middletown?
If they were to do more Grandma's Hands-type sets in the future, who would you guys want to see paid tribute to? The first pick that comes to mind for me is Gram Parsons.
