It looks like the Newport Folk Festival Wikipedia page hasn't been updated in forever. It doesn't seem to reflect the Sweet era. Maybe by using news articles from the past several years we could collectively do the festival justice.

If I find some motivation soon I may try to add some stuff to it. I'm sure we could track down all the info on here and elsewhere online.

I will add my two cents soon also. I'm a little hesitant in so far as I not sure about the protocols to follow with Wikipedia. But it's important. It's a resource that artists, agents, promoters, media and the public go to. I was surprised it hadn't been updated in so long. People make judgements about the festival based on it. The festival has been such a success in recent times and the site didn't reflect any of it. I just took a look and it looks like someone has been bringing it up to date. Thanks guys!
Two new Hiss songs! Love 'em both, looks like their hot streak isn't slowing down. This is probably the best production/arranging I've heard from them in the studio.
For you NFF regulars in the Boston area, Do617 is sponsoring a free performance & conversation with Shakey Graves on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at Berklee Performance Center.

Apparently, it's the first in a series. Not sure if they're all going to be at the BPC, but it's possible, since the focus of the conversation is upon music business, which is a major at Berklee and of interest to most anyone going to school there.
This was part of Newport Festivals Foundations's new membership offerings -- I believe a $150 membership grants you guaranteed pre-sale access for 2 tickets, newsletters, + being on their member advisory board (aka sounds like you can voice who you want to come, etc.) + a $1,500 membership tier guarantees 2 tickets, newsletters, swag, after-party opportunities, being on the member advisory board, etc. You could only join on site at this year's festival though.
It was $100, up to 1000 peeps- if exceeded they would lottery draw and you would only be charged if you were picked. Got the acceptance email Monday evening.
With early arrival leading to getting great parking spots and early outs it made a big difference. Still the idea of renting closer is something a few of us poked a stick at monday. For any that have had larger groups 15-20 would like to hear what ya'll do. we are about 10 minutes out from the Portsmouth townline.. would have to get considerably closer to make it worth it overall. My can't sleep dream is to win a bazillion in the lottery and buy the farm that borders the park entrance road.
Is it too late to get in on the lottery? Is this only something you could do if you were there this year? Can't find any info on the Festival Foundation site.
Anyone else check out the new Jake Bugg album? It's got a great mix of country and British folk influence. Might be my favorite of his since his debut. Fingers crossed they'll finally get him to the Fort next year, hopefully that Cambridge Folk Fest partnership will help

Really digging it too. Saw that Cambridge is a week later near year and that Rhiannon Giddens is the guest curator, so you would think there will be some crossover next year for sure.
In case anyone didn't see these, both Deer Tick albums are streaming on CoS and The Lone Bellow's album is streaming on NPR. All three are fantastic. Vol. 1 is a little better than Vol. 2 for DT
Hasn't been mentioned yet, but looked like Jay Sweet had a pretty fun time getting down with Arcade Fire and Pres. Hall at their MSG show last week. Keeping the hope alive for an acoustic set next year.
Wow didn't think of this, this is probably my number 1 most desired for next year though. So cool hearing the other guys sing his songs this summer with Alone and Together though.
Saw The Lone Bellow last night. God they're great! I'll never forget seeing them for the first time at NFF. Such a heart-warming group. Hope they're back next year!
