Newport Friendly New Music: Lots of good albums coming out lately from Newport friendly acts or those that I might like to become Newport friendly acts:
Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett's album is great Langhorn Slim's new music is great Margot Price Deer Tick Hiss Golden Messenger Steve Martin The Texas Gentlemen Cat Stevens The Lone Bellow Neil Young
Really enjoying Robert Plant's new album And... this one is a reach for Newport, but Rostam (lead from Vampire Weekend) has a solo album out that is great.
Anyone have any other recommendations?
Seeing Son Little at the Sinclair this weekend. Looking forward to it.

Check out Twain. New record out this Friday and the single "Little Dog Mind" has become one of my go to songs the last month or so.
Second the recommendation of The Weather Station's record.
New Mavis Staples tracks have been solid, looking forward to that record next month. Been liking that new First Aid Kit song too, seeing them on Wednesday.
Well Neil Young's at least touring next year. Not that that makes him any more likely than any other year he's toured, but my hopes can stay alive for the time being.

Also seeing Son Little tomorrow night. Super excited despite being sick as a dog.
Tweeted out Newport requests to a whole bunch of artists last night and got some positive responses/interest from Grizzly Bear, Damien Jurado, and Kyle Craft.
Hopefully in 2018 I’ll get to see a lot of artists that put out some of my favorite albums of 2017 like Conor Oberst, Dispatch, Father John Misty, Deer Tick, Brand New (Doubtful but acoustic would be great), Pres Hall, Son Little, Matthew Logan Vasquez, Kevin Morby, and Alt-J.
Upcoming Shows: August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher

Grizzly Bear doing an acoustic set would be fucking awesome. I'll have to request them too so they get the message
Jazz Fest Tickets went on sale (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/newport-jazz-festival-2018-tickets-37927422943), with a cool flex option if people want to just go one day, but don't want to pick a specific date.
The announcement that Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires are doing two shows as a duo has me daydreaming of that happening at some point at Newport.
Acoustic Evening: Good to see Lucius back on tour. St Patrick’s Day show in Providence is presented by NFF
I've been wondering if Jess and Holly are going to stay on Roger Waters' tour for next year.
These shows look to all be conveniently during the gap between Roger's Australian and European ones, but if they're with him all through next summer that just seems like a lot of time to be away from their own band
