last year we did airbnb which worked well but we are springing (paying a few bucks more) for a hotel this year. anyone ever stay at The Carriage House Inn? looks a bit further away and ever definition of the word "quaint" but frankly lodging is far from most important part of weekend for us.
I don't know if I should ruin the surprise for anybody who wants to be surprised but I just did some digging on the Bon Iver reddit and the shows on this Northeast run are not entirely as advertised. I for one am a little bit disappointed that it wasn't made clear at the time of purchasing. I still probably would have purchased the tickets but I think I would have had to think about it.
The last few Bon Iver shows of the current tour have been solo sets. There is no opener. The tickets were sold as "Bon Iver" but there is no backing band. a fan posted that they spoke with Justin after a show for 15 minutes and he said the remainder of this run will be solo. He's also severely limiting his sets to about 4 songs off of 22, A Million which is a huge blow to me because 22 is my favorite Bon Iver album and the only one I haven't seen live. Looking at setlists online I notice he had been playing 16 song sets with the band every night until they randomly had a 9 song set and then the next show he started performing solo. I can't help but wonder if there was a quarrel of some sort within the band.
Of course now I'm setting myself up to be blown away because I've lowered my expectations.

WOAH! That set was amazing. Wasn’t expecting to see Over soon. The layering on Woods was crazy. He ended with my favorite song. He played Heavenly Father. More than I could ask for.
On a side note (Actually more important) I just left because I waited outside the tour bus along with about 10 other crazy people so he would sign my poster.
Paraphrased Conversation: Justin: I like Your Jean jacket, man. Me: Thanks, Justin! awesome show tonight, man. Justin: thank you very much. Me: hope to see you back at Newport soon. Justin: are you kidding me? I think i’ll be back A LOT. Corin: Yeah you seemed to be enjoying yourself... Justin: How could you not? Me: especially with John Prine. Justin: Shit yeah, man. I love playing wth him. He’s playing Radio City soon so I think I’ll swing by to join.
That was it but he was super cool and even asked everybody to step away from the side of his bus and move to the front where there was less noise so we could all hear each other. Not many people in his position would care to do that.

Yes. Another incredible member of the Newport family is born.
Definitely doing that Radio City show now. Prine, Sturgill, and Justin??
Speaking of which, I met John Prine last night. Didn't get to have much of a conversation, and I don't think I can really go into much detail on the circumstances, but I just had to share because it was awesome.
While I'm here, the Hiss show tonight was the best I've seen them yet, no question. The bigger band on this tour, especially the sax player, definitely takes them up a notch. Would really love to see them get a Fort stage set this summer. Seems like a perfect 2nd act of the day. Maybe on Sunday after Pres. Hall. I'll try to chat up Mike or Phil if I see them after tomorrow's show
And apparently the reason Grandma's Hands Band came together was because they weren't allowed to play a proper Hiss show, I'm guessing due to a radius clause with Boston Calling. A little confusing because they've shared acts before and w/ the rolling lineup and instant sellout I would've figured that's a non-issue for a smaller act like them. Whatever, absolutely 0 complaints that we got GHB instead. Talked to a couple different people at the show about that set.
And as for that Cambridge lineup, would love to get Rosanne Cash back. I really liked her last album and have been hoping to see her pop up on the lineup the last couple years. Songhoy Blues might make up for their cancelled set, but I could take it or leave it. John Moreland is obviously pretty likely to return and I feel like Darlingside is probably a given too being from Boston and such. Surprised they haven't played already.

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Awesome news! Although it’s a confirmation of what we all thought would happen haha.

HEY! Don't forget to send me your Bingo artists. I've only had five people submit so far, which is far less than last year! The more people, the more fun!

What are the basic rules for someone who never played? Is it the first to get a horizontal line? What is the center spot for?

Gonna change it a wee bit this year. Instead of making a card, just message me your 48 bands/artists/musicians/jugglers and what ever you want for your free spot (be creative or not). Then I'll go ahead and do my magic to put them together. There were a few inconsistencies last year that were a bit annoying on my end, so it'll be easier if I just make them. I'll then message the finished card back to you. Once they're all in, I'll post them all on the page for everyone to see. (Messaging them to me first just helps everyone have an equal chance, so no one can get ideas from cards posted before them)
Lets go with December 11th for a *soft* deadline.
Once the lineup starts rolling out, I'll keep track of all the acts. Whoever gets a full line of 7 on the bingo card first, I'll buy them a drink at the fort!! Yahoo! If no one gets a full line, then I'll buy a drink for whoever has the most spots filled. If the winner is under 21, we'll figure something out.
Here's what the winning card looked like from last year:
The red circles were announced artists and the green I did after the fest as "they there in a way but unannounced/members of X showed up", just for fun. And the picture on the right is to remember who is who...
Unannounced guests do not count towards bingos, because we won't know until after the fest. Only acts on the website once the "and many more" are gone from each day. There was definitely some confusing ones last year, like the American Acoustic and things like that, but we'll figure them out.
Also, I'm not accepting Berklee Gospel Choir or Preservation Hall, since we know they'll be there. Aaaand if we get any confirmations before your cards are in, please don't add them.
IS THAT ENOUGH RULES?!
Last year was super fun! I think we had 12 participants. The more the merrier! Any questions/concerns/ideas, just let me know! This may seem confusing ahaha.

I think mrpotatotrooper is doing the cards, we just need to give 48 names.
Correct! The middle square is a free spot (like in most bingo games). Some people like adding creative things for there like "Deer Tick After Shows" "Good Times" or "Jay Sweet with A Megaphone". If you don't want to be creative, I'll put something in there.
