Trade Lodging and Breakfast for tickets for one person.
Hi, I will have a king suite at a Marriott property hotel that is 12 miles from Newport in North Kingston and is townplace suites. I had three friends from Canada have to cancel last minute because of a family emergency (all good and terrible circumstances for them). I have a room that is $280 night (with taxes) and includes a breakfast. I have the highest status with Marriott and almost always get upgraded, so I am expecting to end up with a two bedroom suite. For now there is a king bed and a queen sofa bed, but the upgraded room would be a king and queen sofa bed in one room and king in the other bedroom if that works out. I am looking for a Friday and a Saturday ticket. If you do not have a ticket and just want a bed I would take $100 (about a 1/3 of the price and about the price of a ticket) for one of the beds or as much of the room as you need. I just want a place to crash at the end of the night after the festival and after shows. Price would be the same for one or two people or even three (depending). If you are two (or three:)) you can take the king bed and if you are a single like me we can do rock, paper, scissors for the king versus queen bed.
I have a car and could possibly provide transportation, but as of now I am planning on biking there and back. I could also provide transportation from Boston Friday morning.
Please reach out with any interest. Going to be a great festival. My favorite event every year and I try my best to recruit different friends each year.
Thank you.
To respond to a few questions I was asked. Hotel is for Friday and Saturday nights. I am a 50 year old male who works in non-profit health care research and policy. Fairly normal minivan driving dad type. From Canada originally so polite as hell. You get the picture.
That Sturgill -> Wood Brothers -> St. Vincent -> Isbell run is great but I can't decide between seeing all of a set or trying to catch a few songs from each. I've seen the Wood Brothers a bunch but not in a while. And I'm interested to see St Vincent's set because I imagine it'll be way different from her other tour sets.
I wind up seeing Wood Brothers once or twice a year, they're on fire these days.

"But Mrpotatotrooper!? What about Bingo!?" Well let me tell you h'what's h'what. T'was a doosey this year. 14 bingo cards submitted, and everyone did pretty good. Lowest score was 8 (good try matthewgroehl ). BUT THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE TRUE CHAMPION. The reigning King of Bingo, for a THIRD year in a row, with 19 correct guesses is.......
But because I obviously can't give myself the prize and buy myself a beer (I will already be buying several of them for myself), the glorious prize and fame has to go to the second place winner. SO THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE other. But there's not... there's two. Both rjgreen88 and timbobsnow got 18 correct guesses. All hail the other kings. But because I'm cheap and the Canadian dollar sucks right now, there will only be one prize. I determined the tie-breaker by acts "sort of" there. So congrats timbobsnow , thanks to Father John Misty and Lake Street Dive (and the 18 other artists), you've got yourself a free beer.

Seems no matter where I park, its a wait. So the lower lots (further in) get out first?
Alternate routes? We discovered Year One that the biggest headache from Middletown is America's Cup Avenue. Are you referring to Valley Road, then crossing Easton Bay? (Of course, now that's where the traffic will be) If you have an even better idea, suggestions welcome here or via message. Thanks!
Yes - lower you park = better. k2b it's been awhile for you for Quack Club. Last year we really got our Sh*t together. Boat horn X 3 = get in the van or left behind. Out by 9:10 am., at the fort by ten and parked in the lots closest to the exit. Out in ten minutes tops (but don't be shy getting in line) and home by 9 latest!! This year, QC 8 and no van!! First time and a bit excited to not have that responsibility. Will have quacker help me map it tomorrow. We leap frog across AA and do all back roads right to the fort entrance. For anyone coming in from portsmouth area or farther out there is a service/military road along the water that is lovely and far better than 114 or 138.
op336 we are in warren and host quack club which is a bunch of folkers from the board and friends-of that stay at the house for NFF. Back in the day when i was a young whipper snapper we had up to 35 (yikes!!) for the weekend. Bodies everywhere at night indoors and out. We capped at 20 this year because I remember the 70's too and my husband doesn't for all of those 70's reasons.
Upcoming Shows: August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher

Thanks! I'm still surprised that Josh Ritter didn't make his way on the lineup. So ready for Newport!
Biggest surprises for me are no Texas Gentlemen, Kyle Craft or Nathaniel Rateliff. Seems like all of them had become important pieces over the last couple of years and they all released really good new albums in the past several months. Maybe they still show up as Friends of Newport in some fashion though it would be hard for the Texas Gentlemen to just pop in as there are so many of them.

Just a heads up, the newest episode of All Songs Considered is an overview of some of this year's lineup along with an interview with Jay. Definitely worth a listen.
Hey, how long do the aftershows usually run? We will be at FJM and Cook Bros. I need to let my airbnbs know when we might return. Thanks!
Didn't see anyone else answer, but if I recall from 2 years ago Jane Pickens shows usually end around 11. Deer tick shows went til 12 or later. Parlor show seemed to go til midnight as well. Not sure if they changed things up last year.
Does anybody know how the tickets work for the after shows? (Specifically Cook Bros and FJM) My folder in my email with all my ticket and trip confirmations in it got deleted, so if there were tickets or any information about tickets in there, I no longer have it.

The Pickens shows are will call. They have a list of attendees that they bounce your name off of.

To whoever guessed James Hunter Six, you were a week off. They played Pawtucket last Friday.
I couldn't make it Friday, so woulda been nice if they came to the fort instead.
I guessed James Hunter Six. I really wish they were on the lineup too, they just played in Annapolis/DC, really bummed I missed it. Can't always swing the weeknight shows

I’m still banking on Rateliff taking the year off so he can come back for a big return next year. Too bad he’s not available this weekend because he’s on the Glorietta album, but I think we’ll get a NR&tNS pre-headline or maybe even headline set next year. Same could be true for MMJ since, as was mentioned, this is the first year in forever that none of them have been there

Having a lot of fun listening to this today, nice flashback to Newport 2k16 with some great songs that didn't make it on the Newport setlist (or were cut off, since he didn't get to play a song or two at the end)

Might lock myself out of inforoo until Sunday night. No idea if it will leak, but really wanna go into the weekend with all of my current knowledge of who I'm gonna see and no other leaks of who might be there or who the Sat headliner is.

so I heard from my manager at work, who attends the festival every year for a day or two, is there are rumblings that Mumford and Sons are doing a surprise secret set on Saturday. I guess her husband's sister works at some hotel in the area and sees the band in the hotel multiple times a day. According to their Instagram the band IS in the states, at the very least NYC. This was the first I heard about it tho and tried to look it up but couldn't find much else. Just passing along what I've been hearing.
But god if it's true I'm gonna jump off a cliff lol
I really want it to leak tomorrow because I have a 10 hour drive on Thursday that would be perfect for listening to someone new.
I have a feeling, even without the board’s help, we may be able to narrow it down on over the course of the weekend. For instance, if Conor comes up during Phoebe’s set, I’m going to bank on Monsters of Folk.
Although, the board’s sleuthing will speed the process along. If Bruce’s instagram (does he have one?) shows him in Europe for a few days on Friday, that would be a quick rule out.
