fulfilled a life long dream making it to Newport last year all the way from Adelaide, Australia....an experience my family and I will never forgot, my favourite and most enjoyable musical experience...
unfortunately making it back this year was beyond us.... just wanted to wish everyone a fabulous Newport this weekend
my challenge has been set and I'm determined to make it back next year, and promised to take my dad who brought me up on Folk with me.... so see you in 2019
I'm so glad you and your family were able to make it, and I hope you are able to return in 2019! Newport Folk is a very special festival, and I hope to return someday. I moved back to Sydney from Boston about five years ago, and I went from one of the closest Inforoosters to the Fort (90-minute drive from my house), to second only to you for farthest flung fan. 95+% of the year, I'm totally happy living here again... this weekend is part of the 5% of the year I get homesick. And that lobster roll with the Fort walls in the background sure is making me miss New England right now. All it needs is a Del's frozen lemonade for the trifecta.
Now excuse me while I reminisce about beer prison and the blanket guards just so I can keep some semblance of sanity.

Obviously the Mumford and Sons rumors were right. What i don't understand then is why is todays set unanounced? Everyone will know now.
If you listen to the idiot near me last night that had to be told to shut up more than once. Just because Mumford covered Bruce that means he’s the headliner.

So that’s the chirping that I heard at the show last night...

I ended up getting into Glorietta. It was wild. A complete 180 from the NFF show. It was a loud, sweaty, Matt Vasquez-led mess that was absolutely what I was hoping for.
They played Glorietta songs, a couple Vasquez songs and some of the stranger cover selections I’ve seen, including Friends in low Places and an impromptu Green Day cover when the show was over. Turned into more of a drunken karaoke party towards the end.
First opener went on about 945 I think. Vasquez solo at 1015ish. Another opener, didn’t catch his name around 1045 maybe? I think Glorietta played 1130-1230?
That’s all a guess I wasn’t really paying attention.
