Trying to re-listen to the 59 Sound to see if we could get Gaslight Anthem to perform it at Newport. I know Newport has booked Fallon before. I still hear some of that Springsteen-esque folk in the full band’s breakout album. Fingers crossed.

Another year, another failure at creating a bingo card.
This isn't really a prediction, more of a wish. With the constant drumbeat of awful stories about men in entertainment and the #metoo movement, I'd love it if this year was the year of women. I've joked for a while that "fuzzy, female fronted indie rock" is my favorite "genre" but I think there's a lot of great bands out there some who should be back, some I think would be first timers. Ideas: (Returning) Lady Lamb Julien Baker Courtney Barnett Lucius (it's been so long since they were on the actual list!) Jenny Lewis Margo Price (a lock) (New) Hop Along Alvvays Laura Stevenson Haim Yeah Yeah Yeahs (GovBall means no pano right? I think they're in play) Stevie Nicks (as this year's legacy headliner/Goddess from whom all the rest of these bands flow)
Thoughts? Other folks who would fit on my ever growing Spotify playlist?
(No Exclusion of men either: Excited to see Gaslight is playing the good one. They were associated with Hold Steady who I'd love to see at the fort/a deer tick after show. I think Jack White makes an appearance. Todd Snider is overdue.)
With that lineup, I’m assuming we are getting Gaslight. Def expecting JW in some capacity
man i am really hoping you are right, but i'm gonna manage my (great) expectations until i see it for real. i wonder if they would rework it/do acoustic version of '59 for newport. otherwise '59 seems just a bit too loud for fort. prove me wrong jay!
just looked back and it looks like first artist of 2017 (fleet foxes) was announced on instagram on Feb 1. are we thinking we will start to see things week of 1/29 this year perhaps?

Well, Fallon just announced that there will be other ‘59 Sound shows this year. That’s a start.
While I don’t think NFF would book a whole festival of Gaslight Anthem-type bands, I think they could still justify this set at a folk festival. NFF has booked other loud artists in the past- Jack White, the Pixies, Gogol Bordello, My Morning Jacket, Tune-Yards, Gary Clark jr, Reignwolf.
this shouldnt be taken as anything other than coincidence based on the artist brought up today, but it did get my mind thinking of some pretty unique collabs...
I've posted my hopefuls on here before, but haven't posted my bingo card of bands that I think are likely (or what it would have been had I had a chance to fill one out) based upon expected tours, new albums, etc.:
The War on Drugs Bermuda Triangle The Hunts Darlingside First Aid Kit Penny and Sparrow The Oh Hellos Hiss Golden Messenger Bahamas Kurt Vile & Courtney Barnett Shakey Graves Sara Watkins Bon Iver Dawes Vance Joy Greta Van Fleet Declan McKenna
