Whoever mentioned the new Typhoon album, Thank you! What an incredible album!
It is an incredible album! The kind you want to sit down with a lyric sheet and follow every song. I don't know how it would translate live though. It's such a deep album.
Bands I’d be happy to see at Newport: Old Crow Greta Van Fleet (is this possible?) Infamous Stringdusters (really want them to bring on Ryan Adams again) Keller Williams Pettygrass Son Little Antibalas Langhorne Slim
On an aside, why the hell does FloydFest have Foster the People headlining? Don’t get me wrong, I actually like Foster the People, but there is not even one other band on the lineup that is similar.

Thanks to everyone who submitted! I'll be keeping track once the lineup starts rolling out. Remember, only artists announced ahead of time count. And obviously some announcements will be up to interpretation. We'll figure those out as we go. Gonna do some more work and make a massive Bingo card with all 272 guessed artists. Yahoo!

Is everyone thinking that they’ll start rolling out artist announcements within the next week or two? I’m getting super giddy now that Newport Jazz has announced theirs, so I’m feeling optimistic!
What makes this time (more than the others) all the sweeter is that my son - who will be a little under 2 - will be joining me rocking some headphones It’ll be his first ever concert experience!
We’ll be there Saturday

Biggest surprise for me on this list is Anderson East getting 9 picks. I hadn't even heard of him. Listening to him now and it certainly fits stylistically. Wondering what lead folks to think he would perform as he doesn't fit in my formula.

Over the past few years he has opened for Sturgill and Stapleton. His last two albums have been produced by Dave Cobb who has been responsible for lots of the big recent Americana albums. I was surprised to see such a high number for him too, despite putting him on my own list.

His shows are incredibly similar to St Paul and the Broken Bones and Nathaniel Rateliff. To me he fits the best of any (not too expensive) artist that hasn't played yet. I would be shocked if he doesn't appear this year or next.

Jay was seen at a Pres Hall/AF show and it escalated from there.
I've been calling this for over a year, with the tour schedule going to Spring 2019 (via Strawman ) and the Ben Jaffe/Pres Hall connection. Plus the stylistic and "musical sense of community" fit. Jay at the MSG show wasn't the beginning.

Dennis from Deer Tick just released a solo album under the name Vincent Van Gold, with Robbie Crowell (ex-Deer Tick) and Adam Landry (produced the last three DT albums, both Diamond Rugs albums, and a bunch more). Could definitely imagine them being one of the NBC openers. Pretty cool album! Neato!
