Jay was seen at a Pres Hall/AF show and it escalated from there.
I've been calling this for over a year, with the tour schedule going to Spring 2019 (via Strawman ) and the Ben Jaffe/Pres Hall connection. Plus the stylistic and "musical sense of community" fit. Jay at the MSG show wasn't the beginning.
Arcade Fire are absolutely a fit. The artistic live jazz scene of Montreal is in their DNA. Régine Chassagne's background in medieval folk instruments influences their sound. They're very active in helping good causes which fits the Newport Folk ethos. When I saw them live there was a little girl beside me with her Mom. Régine came over after the show and handed her tambourine to the little girl. It inspired me to start bringing my own kid to gigs. Because of that he's had many amazing experiences at concerts. Whether intimate or an arena an Arcade Fire concert is an experience. I don't know if they'll ever play Newport but if they do it'll be with the Preservation Hall band it'll be amazing.

Sturgill was a famtastic compliment to Chris Stapleton last night. Wasn't that excited about his (inevitable) booking, but now I am.
Chris Stapleton will be here one day. Likely not this year though, unless someone has had a few conversations with him or bought him some hot dogs.
I just want to see Stapleton, Sturgill, Margo, and Isbell get together in a Highwaymen-style supergroup
They were so amazing on SNL last night! So glad I caught Sturgill at NFF 2015. That year was the best. Every other announcement seemed to turn me on to a new amazing singer or band. Sometimes I think NFF 2015 was one of, if not the, best lineups any festival has had in recent times. But every year is amazing. Hope the 2018 lineup begins this week. Really excited to see it take shape.
I don’t think it’ll be this week...really thinking next week. There has been no outreach from them at all. There is usually a Facebook logo/banner change, also no outreach about bingo. Wouldn’t get hopes up.

Yeah, that sounds like there will be a little bit more waiting.
Can’t stand the waiting. Jay Sweet and Robert Mueller have both got me feeling like a kid a week before Christmas. Hoping I have been good enough for Santa not to give me coal.
frank turner released first single from his new record this morning. so far his UK dates end in May, with Europe picking up in October so obviously big gap there. apparently there is US tour announcement in next few hours so we will know more then.

Jack White is touring this summer but he'll be in Europe until July 15th then his next date is in Minneapolis the beginning of Aug. I don't know if that makes him less of a possibility. Dan Auerbach is touring but it looks like his dates end in April. Both of these artists are playing in my town and it's always a crapshoot to buy tickets or wait to see if they play at Newport. I did buy a ticket for the homecoming festival in Cincinnati in April The National puts on. The line up looks great so far. Julien Baker!

Literally waiting with intensely baited breath for our first reveal. Is anyone else getting Newport fever? I'm simultaneously already beginning to stress over getting DT Aftershow tickets...

07/15, concert in London being billed as Paul Simon's farewell performance. Also on the bill, Bonnie Raitt and James Taylor. James Taylor will be back in the area the Newport weekend, any one of them would look real nice on the lineup.

I'm trying to decide what to do for after shows this year. Last year I just did DT on Sunday, but I think I want to check out a Jane Pickens show this year. I usually try to keep one night free just to wander around Newport, but the after shows are so good idk this year
