My guess is Bon Iver. Seems like the most equivalent to Fleet Foxes. He’s currently in the news right now so you would get the extra publicity. Would generate a lot of excitement for the fest and you could build a day around him.
I would prepare for that announcement at some point though. It’s pretty bizarre that he has nothing local. Just the yearly residence at the shed “Tanglewood”
I am going with either Neil Young who has yet to announce any tour dates and yet is rumored to be planning a summer tour. Would be great if he started the announcements with Newport. Or Aimee Mann fresh off her Grammy win, but would have to feel that it wouldn't be as big as last years first announcement.
*(Would have gone with Arcade Fire if it hadn't already been mentioned. Really love their latest album. Would also love a Sturgill Simpson announcement. I tweeted at him to come and Newport liked the tweet so it is pretty much a lock that he is coming )
The email also included info on the membership. everyone still has to go to the tent to donate/sign up, but if you were a member this year and you sign up - you are in, no lottery. No mention of $ for this year or how many will be available in the lottery post member sign up. Knowing 2 tickets would be available presale sure took that edge off.

Last year if they got over 1000 people to sign up there was going to be a lottery. If your name wasn't chosen you wouldn't been charged. They didn't come close to the number, so everyone that signed up got in. This year everyone that attends the festival, signs up at the tent and was already a member will be a member again. I assume the remaining open spots will be up for lottery and that if your name is not chosen, you will not be charged.

Not sure NFF liking a tweet is a confirmation. I encouraged The National to play NFF which NFF liked. NFF also liked the tweet when I encouraged Paul Simon to play. Van Williams who was touring with First Aid Kit liked it when I encouraged them to play. If any of those play I'm taking credit haha.

My second guess for tomorrow’s first announcement is The War on Drugs. Hasn’t Newport launched the lineup announcements with subheadliners in the past (if my recollection is correct; prior to last year)? Potential Panorama overlap would make sense. We already know that they are in the area that weekend (so it would not be a huge surprise). And Newport could play up their big win at the Grammys.
