My second guess for tomorrow’s first announcement is The War on Drugs. Hasn’t Newport launched the lineup announcements with subheadliners in the past (if my recollection is correct; prior to last year)? Potential Panorama overlap would make sense. We already know that they are in the area that weekend (so it would not be a huge surprise). And Newport could play up their big win at the Grammys.
Ray LaMontagne was the first announcement for 2016. I think all the guesses are in the range of LaMontagne - Fleet Foxes.

Hasn't it been headliners every year except for the Ray Lamontagne year? If I'm remembering correctly, it was Mavis, Roger Waters, Lamontagne, and Fleet Foxes?
Feels like the song lyric was dropped very early this morning. Hope this is a trend. Now interested in seeing if they change their website to be explicit about which artists on which days.
Can those of us who picked Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile together on our BINGO cards get half an X and then the other half when they announce Kurt Vile? lol.
excited to have someone on the board. admittedly never fully gotten into CB but know some and am looking forward to diving back.
that being said, the guesses of Arcade Fire, Isbell, Bon Iver, leave me a bit underwhelmed. i'll get over it, expectations are what they are, still extremely excited.
are we assuming it will be a mon/weds/fri thing from here on out like last year?

If anything I'm excited to experience a Bon Iver performance where people shut. the. fuck. up.
I've seen them 4 times, and three of those times it's been a serious, serious issue. Like a performance-ruining issue.
Those three times were in cities though, so maybe that has something to do with it.
Father John Misty is at Panorama. Really hoping he pulls double duty w/ Newport. I know they've said before he has an open invitation to return whenever

He would be a fun Friday headliner. His recent tour production absolutely deserves it.
Plus the progression of him horrifying people on the quad stage in 2013 and throwing equipment around to headlining one of the oldest and most respected music events in America would be fantastic.

The one time I was at Newport the crowd was not an issue at all. Hope that is still the same. It certainly helps that the standing section at the front caters more to people who want to experience the music as best as possible, versus the rest of the main stage where everyone just tends to chill in their lie-down chairs (or whatever you call those).
