The All Songs Considered - Newport bond grows stronger. This makes two of the three Tiny Desk Contest winners already on this years lineup. All we need is Gaelynn Lee for a trifecta.
man Tank and the Bangas tiny desk was a great start to the day. love finding new stuff like that (LA salami is still highlight of last years fest for me).
it's a shame brian fallon and the boys will be in europe during NFF, kinda digging the poppier sound on his new record. and still want to see '59 sound but dont want to have to go to govs ball to see it...

I'm not surprised Gaslight Anthem won't be appearing at the Fort, since Fallon has been solo twice recently.
Was hoping there'd be some sort of '59 Sound tour though, outside of Govs Ball.
So Mumford and Sons IG just had a live stream, and of course I had to ask about NFF. I asked right before he was taking the last question. He answered a question about Meet and Greets and then said “I’d Love to make it out to that festival, hope to see you there” the stream ended right after that. It’s inconclusive because I didn’t get the chance to see if someone else asked about another fest at the same time...of course when those live videos end, you can’t look at the comments anymore. Happened so quick!

Ben was doing the stream.
Was anyone else on here watching?
Even that answer, if directly responding to you, is confusing.
Although, I’m still convinced Mumford and Sons will play Newport in the not-so-distant future (not sure we’re there quite yet, though). I know they have been invited and turned it down early in their career, but that was during their really busy touring seasons. They played Telluride right around peak popularity, so they can’t be opposed to taking a pay cut. Plus, aren’t they friends with the Dawes guys (as well as many others who have played NFF and could put in a good word)?

Yeah, if anybody in Mumford and Sons knows about Newport it's Ben. He's the founder of Communion Music which serves basically as a promoter for lesser known folk acts in the states (Mainly for artists from across the pond). Communion curated a day at the Museum back in 2014. They featured Hamilton Leithauser, Leif Vollebeckk, Willy Mason, Bear's Den, and Hozier. Other artists who have worked with Communion include Nathaniel Rateliff, Ben Howard, The Staves, George Ezra, James Bay, and Daughter. Since 2014, I've included M&S on my bingo cards due to this fact. I'm confident they'll be there eventually. Maybe with their next album... which hopefully returns to their Sign No More sound (I still love that album).
Upcoming Shows: August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher

Would be interested in some kind of set featuring the music/artists from Inside Llewyn Davis. Maybe not a headliner but a nice set featuring members of Punch Brothers, Marcus mumford, and others who took part in the "Another Day, Another Time" live show (Milk Carton Kids, Rhiannon Giddens, Gillian Welch, Dave Rawlings, Willie Watson, and maybe surprise appearance by Oscar Isaac or Elvis Costello or Joan Baez)?

Not going to happen but I'd love it, personally.
This and New Basement Tapes are probably the biggest missed opportunities of the last 5 years.
anyone know of a place to watch Another Day, Another Time? showtime seems to no longer have it sadly, need to experience it again (tho it will only make me wish for it at NFF more).

They had a DVD for sale at one point. I believe I bought one. Not sure if it's still available somewhere for purchase.
I think I got it through Nonesuch directly but having trouble finding one now.

Looks like you can rent/buy it on Amazon
Or on Fandango, Vudu, the Microsoft Store, and iTunes (according to my Just Watch app)
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
So, I caved and bought a ticket to see Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion! I’m a big fan of the new singles, especially “Hey Mama”
I’m really excited to see Deer Tick again too, I’ve become a bigger fan since and I haven’t seen them since 2014 or so

Come to think of that suggestion, imagine if Justin Timberlake showed up at Newport this year as part of his faux "Man of the Woods" image.

If we’re holding out hope for a pop singer, I’m pulling for Taylor Swift.
I still think she may have a surprise guest set earlier in the day. How about a Taylor Swift cover of Ryan Adams’ cover of Taylor Swift’s 1989?
