"We have tried and tried they wanted more money than the entire lineup combined"
They have cult like devotion from their fans. A buddy of mine is a big fan but told me Bob is greedy. Compare this to Roger Waters or Hozier. Waters flew half way across the country with Lucius last year to sing a song with John Prine. Hozier thanked Newport for giving him a chance by coming back at his peak and playing for free in 2015. I want to see performers who love music and get it, not performers milking it. I made the mistake this week of paying way inflated ticket prices for a concert my kid wanted to go to. From now on I'm going to only see performers who don't rip off their fans.
I mean, isn't the Dead and Co thing pretty much about money? Like they did the fare thee well, lesh said that's enough, and then bob and the manager said fuck that and found replacements?
FWIW there were 8 names that crossed over last year. This year there are already 5 officially announced, plus Pres. Hall & Hiss Golden Messenger.
I'll be pretty surprised if Margo Price isn't back this year. Bermuda Triangle, Lukas Nelson, and Courtney Marie Andrews all seem like solid possibilities
What a coincidence. I stumbled upon them a week ago on Spotify’s Happy Folk playlist. And have been listening nonstop since because they are everything I look for in poppy folk music. This makes me so happy.

The remaining Dead members are in it for the money. That's why they are touring, to make money for their children's children's children at this point. And I love the Dead. I don't even mind that they're in it for the money. They're still playing well. And I think Phil isn't involved with D&C because he's an insufferable asshole with an inexplicably large ego and wouldn't share the stage with the rest of them. He can only stomach sharing it with Bobby for a few shows at a time. There's a reason why PL&F is basically Phil and a bunch of bums pal-ing about Terrapin Crossroads.
Buddy Guy already played with Gary Clark Jr. Mick and Keith were pretty good too. Relly really hoping Buddy Guy will be there so they play together. Look great gotogether.
Also, it looks like Gary Clark Jr. has played with Leon Bridges a bunch of times.
Sharing is caring so here's one more. Lord Huron on Kimmel four days ago. Forgive me if someone already shared this. They sound like a completely different great band.

Thanks! I meant to check this out the other day but it slipped my mind. They sound great here
I've been really really loving their new songs. Thinking this will be their best album yet.
They also just announced a show at a pretty small venue here in NY later this month. I'm excited
I think Sturgill would be a tad above him but he also has more history with the fest so idk. Could see it going either way but I'm guessing it's one of them

Ah, crap, forgot I had the line-up sorted alphabetically, not by day. Sturgill and Isbell showed up in different columns. Yea, that's a toss up. Collab set? Inaugural "New Highwaymen" (Sturgill, Isbell, Stapleton, Price)? I can dream.
I would like to think that we have our top two on Friday. Both have the chops to potentially headline. Both fit well as subheadliners. Neither seem to fit anywhere below a subheadlining spot on the lineup.
Has anyone else noticed that the days are sort of taking on themes? Friday is really becoming the alt-country day (Colter Wall is the only exception not booked for Friday). Saturday is the indie-folk day. Sunday is the soul/blues day. Would be interesting if this trend continues (and helps shape the headliners for Sat and Sun).
