I think that comment from Jay should pretty much rule out Neil unless something changes before the fest. Maybe our best hope is to have Lukas play this year and help convince Neil to play 2019
What did he say again? Something to the effect that they tried but weren't able to right?

Sounds like Newport want us to campaign. Today's announcement provides an excuse to ask him online if he's coming. But if he isn't I sure hope it mean Fogerty will be there.

Fogerty's been a hope since I started going. He seems like a guy who might ask too much money, which would be a shame.

Superjam looks cool this year. Tom Petty set with some MMJ/Wilco members in the core band. Special guests include: Sheryl Crow, Langhorne, Sylvan Esso, Revivalists, etc.
Someone had asked on an earlier page if there was any possible better way to end Sunday at Newport than a special set by Jon Batiste and the Dap Kings. I do agree, that’s going to be a fun set.
But outside of the Bruces and Eddies and Arethas, one thought came to mind:
Petty Tribute set featuring the Heartbreakers with guest vocals by artists in attendance and special guests.
It may just be because I live in Florida, but I have yet to see one folk band in the last year that did not cover Petty during their set. It would be moving to have the Heartbreakers in attendance and ripping through a set of Petty classics. Maybe Elvis Costello could pop in as a special guest. Taylor Goldsmith. Jim James.

Just saw the April/May cover of Relix featuring Leon Bridges. Sub-headline: A Change is Gonna Come. I know people have already talked about Leon’s chances of him appearing at this set. Just adding my piece of wood to the fire.
Sad news about Yvonne. Was she the sister who was having some difficulty on stage at the Fort in 2014? My second year...the sun broke through just as Mavis began to sing.
So, what's the connection with John Fogerty and Lucas Nelson and/or Band of the Real, etc? Lost on this one. Van is in Europe.

Lucas Nelson is Willie Nelson's son. Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real backed John Fogerty on his coast-to-coast tour of Canada in September 2012.
Young has had a long-time friendship with Lukas, jammed with Lucas and POTR at Farm Aid and played bunch of concerts together last year and some this year. Then again Lucas collaborates with Lady Gaga a lot too so maybe she'll show haha.

If we get Fogerty, he'll be backed by his band featuring his son on lead guitar. John will definitely talk about it about 20 times during the show, as well.
does this mean Arcade Fire is sunday? i know ben jaffe tends to hang around most of the weekend so that might not matter
I would think an 11:00 AM set means that the band is likely in town as well the night before. I can’t imagine a Saturday night set, only to pack up and drive a few hours to get to the next tour stop, and be up and at ‘em for an early morning soundcheck and 11 AM set.
But I’m also not a professional musician so what do I know

I'm sure they'll all be there all weekend sitting in on sets and whatnot. They almost always are.
Speaking of today’s announcement, have any of you been to the real Preservation Hall? I am heading to New Orleans soon and this is a must for me. But I’ve heard it can be a pain to get into. Any suggestions or tips from those who have been? Thinking about paying the surcharge for guaranteed seats.
