How many artists in general and how many headliners\near headliners are remaining?
By my count 14 are left, 4 on Friday and 5 on both Saturday and Sunday. I think Saturday and Sunday Fort Stage headliners are still remaining. And probably a pre-headliner or Quad headliner on Saturday. That seems realistic.
GENERAL QUESTION RE MINI TENTS / BEACH TENTS / CANOPIES:
Over the years, especially in the sweltering sun, always been a bit jealous of those with a small beach or pop up tents.
Missed last year and heard there were new rules. Anyone know the regulations re size this year?
Not totally sure about the size but a few different members here should be able to help. I do know that one of the newer rules they've been doing the last few years is restricting specifically where the shade tents can be. Early on it was kind of a free for all but now I think they want them way to the back and out of certain walkways. I know we've had to move the tent we used that was over near the fort stage recently.
XPNFest announced their daily lineups. Wouldn't be surprised to see Bermuda Triangle or Josh Ritter added to Saturday's lineup since they are playing XPN on Friday and Sunday respectively. Also, Blind Boys of Alabama were added to their Sunday lineup, maybe they'll be added and play with Phil Cook again?

Is anyone else a little disappointed by all the crossover with XPN Festival? It's almost nearing the point where it's worth considering for me to just go to Philadelphia instead of Newport. Obvs completely diff atmosphere and I love Newport, but I'm hoping these last acts just aren't acts on that fest's lineup.
Gotta say I like the slow reveal better. More time to savor the individual artists. There are a few that I haven't even listened to because they have been coming so quickly. Guess there is more time to listen to the whole bunch before the fest this way.
While I am whinging, why has there only been 1 podcast? I really liked the format of the podcasts last year. Would love another one soon!
It was announced earlier today that Laura Marling has a side project with Tunng’s Mike Lindsay. Album out this summer.
Sounds like Tunng’s folktronica is rubbing off on this project. I would love if Newport surprised us by introducing this act at this year’s fest (I was just thinking how cool it would be for some more folktronica ala their Beth Orton booking a few years back).
Edit: * Just noticed that their label is Dead Oceans, which already has some representation on this year’s lineup (Phoebe, Khruangbin).
