Hansard just announced a show in Port Chester on 7/27
Wish come true!
So Sat or Sun? Most likely our last non-headliner announcement for Sunday?
Does he tend to play a lot of Frames and Swell Season songs or solo stuff? I’m not sure if I ever listened to any of his solo albums, but I loved the other two acts.

When I saw him in Boston this year, he played 2 Swell songs and 1 Frames song. So he mostly plays solo stuff. It was full band , I think 13 members.
Glen is scheduled for Sunday. I think this helps provide some clarification as we wrap up announcement season.
Saturday and Sunday currently have 17 announced acts. Assuming that none of these are Museum acts (or on some new stage) and that the scheduling remains the same as last year, Sat and Sun only have room for 1 more act each. Thus, it's likely we are just missing our headliners for Saturday and Sunday. This is also important because it rules out some acts we have thought were plausible since early on in announcement season: War on Drugs (could only play Sunday), Lord Huron (could only play Sat or Sun), Sylvan Esso (could only play Sun), and Father John Misty (could only play Sat or Sun; although FJM might be big enough to headline so we can't fully rule him out).
This also likely means no Berklee on Sunday morning.
We have 4 acts left to be announced. 2 on Friday, 1 on Saturday, and 1 on Sunday.

At this point Sylvan Esso appears highly unlikely to fit within this lineup. Amelia will probably be there, but I would guess just sitting in with HGM or Sacred Mountain or A Change is Gonna Come.

how do we know we can trust this reddfoxx gentleman on the Deer Tick thing? He seemed to have thrown it out there without any evidence, including being certain that they would play the main stage this year.
He also posted last year that Justin Vernon would play at a Deer Tick aftershow, which didn't happen.

All three of his albums are well worth a listen, especially Rhythm and Repose. But yeah the bigger Swell Season and Frames songs are pretty standard for his sets
Also he's just amazing performer even if you don't know much of the music

The War On Drugs would be big enough to be a Sunday headliner no? If not they're good enough to be. There is still the chance that the Jon Batiste set is the Sunday headline set pending some bigger surprise guests showing up at it like last year.
If that Batiste set is a Sam Cooke set, then I don’t see it headlining. The Dylan one headlined, but that was different because he played the festival and is a big part of the history.

I don't think it will be a Sam Cooke set exclusively. Wouldn't be surprised if they play the titular announcement song, but I think it will be closer to Speak Out.

They could be big enough, but I think that would be an out of character headliner to close the festival
It is curious that Bruce has the Saturday and Sunday off. It looks like every other week he is doing shows on Broadway, there’s a Saturday show. Hmm...

I think this is Speak Out v2. I also think after the ludicrous hype of 65 revisited (which was super fun but yknow...Bono didn't show) they've learned their lesson about having these things be the closer. Putting it pre-closer seems perfect to me.

Complete side note -- Julien Baker. What are some of her best songs? I just don't get the love affair with her (it's a bit depressing!), but I'm trying!

I always dig Sprained Ankle and Funeral Pyre but I've also never quite understood the hype and couldn't get into her new album even a little bit

It also occurred to me that while Newport has commented on not failing to book Neil Young, Eddie Vedder, etc, I haven't seem them mention Bruce yet.
Still a long shot but I think he's my bet for a classic name if we're getting one this year, and I think he'd fit PERFECTLY with the whole lineup and Sunday's specifically

I still listen to the recording of her at Newport fairly often. That set was by far one of my favorite moments at the set. She absolutely gave it all. Could barely muster enough composure to get out a thank you at the end before running off of the stage to collect herself.
That said, I can certainly understand why her new album doesn’t appeal to most.

I will not get my hopes up. Bruce, solo or with a band, is one of the few acts that would completely sell me on the lineup. Songs from Nebraska, acoustic and from the fort, would be wonderful. If somehow they landed the Seeger Sessions Band to support him, then I would be beyond words-can-describe happy.
