It’s so boring seeing the Patriots make it to the AFC Championship almost every year of this decade..
Credit to them. This is what, 6 or 7 in a row? Nobody does that and most of us may not see that again in our lifetimes unless Tom Brady decides to play another 6 years. They are the best and have the titles to prove it. It’s Wooden’s UCLA b-ball teams from 50 years ago.
Go Jags.
Saints have a tough hill to climb today. Recent history since 1994 has the saints 1-6 in Minneapolis, and we historically suck vs the Vikings. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m ready for the big throw down having already taken a delicious breakfast shot of Don Julio 1942. It’s going to be a whiskey day, so there will be no apologies.
That's fun. But also fun talking shit to rivals and fans of other teams. I never understood why I got shit for doing it here. Where I'm from it's just part of it.
It's just been something I've never enjoyed. It's so... Trumpy.
This is a good start. Now if you would just talk shit about the game itself instead of the fans who talk shit.

Give him the benefit of the doubt. He’s from Buffalo and a Bills fan. They can’t talk shit. Marv Levy was done 20 years ago. I don’t know how old he is, but even if he’s old enough to remember the Bruce Smith/Thurman Thomas/Jim Kelly era, it was a long long time ago. Bills and the rest of the AFC East have been little more than a speed bump for the Patriots for a long ass time

Is it really that impressive? They've dominated a bad division for 17 years, enough to earn a bunch of #1 seeds and get a home game to host the AFC Championship. They are 7-0 the last seven years in home games in the Divisional weekend. What would be the expected outcomes of an average team in that position? 6-1 at worst, right?
It's not to take much away from Belichick and Brady, but that the AFC East has largely been ass for this century has given them an even bigger advantage.

The Patriots have a similar winning percentage against the rest of the NFL to their winning percentage against the AFC east. Maybe even better, I haven't looked it up in a few years. Any division would look worse if the Patriots were in it

Yeah it is. I mean they have had the benefit of a mostly crappy division that they have owned. And that comes with perks such as a built in better chance at divisional titles. Plus as emoney said, they’ve been great against most of the rest of the league too. So they have been able to parlay that into first and second seeds over and over. But they had to do it. I’m going back anecdotally, but I think the Peyton Manning era of Indianapolis was a similar dynamic. But they were not able to turn all of those division titles into Super Bowl Championships.
So again, credit to New England and their success. They are the best. And ideally, in the completely unlikely event that the Saints could win in Minneapolis and Philadelphia, they are the team I’d want us to have to beat for the title. Maybe that’s a little Ric Flair, but for true legitimacy you kind of want to beat the man [tm]. They are.

There's certainly a lot of truth in this, and Brady/Belichick are obviously the kings of NFL history at their respective positions. I just wonder how it would've been if they had more teams like Rex's first Jets team rise up and be competitive in their division.

We had season tickets during the Super Bowl era.
If you knew me IRL you'd know that smack talk is not my thing. I find it especially unseemly when the team involved is clearly superior. Of course the Pats destroyed the Titans. If you want to talk smack in the run up to a game, I get that. I won't do it but I get it. If there were Titans fans out there that were somehow disillusioned enough to talk smack about the Pats in the run up to that game, I could understand a little bit of a smackdown in the wake of the game. But the superior team beats the inferior team. Meh. Just move along.
Word. I was for the bills in all 4 of those Super Bowls. They were classy teams. I remember the horse’s ass locker room love and all that shit. I hear you on shit talking, but I’m about it when it comes to the NFL, I’ll not waste opportunities to queue it up with Panthers or Falcons fans. Hate is okay with me in that context.
Btw, love that Doug Marrone call on 4th. It’s the playoffs, and they are on the road. Play to win.
Oh and the Jaguars D is a perfect matchup against a slower Ben Roethlisberger. I’m not sure they can work the Patriots. And Blake Bortles. But vs Pittsburgh....

I'm a Bucs fan and do all the time! He is just smarter than me though. BTW, the other post was just me talking shit.

it’s cool that it’s a very rare feat for any sport for a franchise to be this successful, but got damn it’s boring. This is the closest we’ll get to know what it was like in the 20s-60s when the Yankees were so dominate. Hopefully it doesn’t last 5 decades tho.
Any “expert” that thinks TB12 won’t have a problem with this Jags defense is full of shit.
Brady has a quicker release, (and an elite velocity) and I think can better exploit blitzing. But the Jaguars can get you with rushing 4. So it’s definitely going to be a challenge. I just don’t trust Bortles in that game if they go on to win today. I felt like regardless of the earlier game this season, the Jaguars have the defensive speed that is a big bonus against Pittsburgh. I wonder what the Patriots would open up against the Jaguars? 8.5 maybe?
Oh and yeah I hear you about the boringness of New England’s dynasty. But as a Saints fan, I was uber appreciative of that super bowl win last year. Seeing the Falcons lose like they did, as much of a conciliation as it was, was still pretty satisfying. Haha.

We match up against the steelers way better than the pats. Ben hold the ball and throwing to the outside plays to our strength. The dink and dunks to rbs and tes is what scares me most. We could still easily lose this game though. Can never feel comfy with blake.
Admittedly going hard today. Got the side by sides hooked up for NFL and NBA with a Pelicans grudge match against the Knicks about to tip off. /whiskey
I keep missing great games this season, college and pros. Guess TB12 could have no problem with the Jags defense after all..
Solid game though not Top 3 all time playoff points. Giant win for the over and for the Jaguars for winning straight up. Congratulations to them. I’m nervous because you know that motivation was drilled last minute in the Vikings locker room. Here fucking goes.
