ZIG & Jonny's Lemon - I've decided I'm heading up for this flying solo, think I'm going to go to the Oxbeaux Thursday night. Let me know if you're going and I will try to meet up. Should be a really fun weekend. I'm going to drive to Milwaukee on Sunday for the Arcade Fire/Manchester Orchestra show.
We will probably arrive pretty late on Thursday, due to a long ass drive from Pittsburgh, but we'll be there early Friday and Saturday at the fest. Really getting excited for IV.
This is kinda disappointing. Good reason to never go to a festival that won't even put out a lineup.
Yeah and didn’t they raise ticket prices this year ? Lineup seems smaller compared to past years
yup, plus strongly hinting at stuff that would be huge at this fest like Sufjan/Planetarium that didn't end up on the lineup. Kinda feels like they were trying to make back money after probably losing a lot on the first ones.
I understand & appreciate what they're trying to do with this approach, but unfortunately, the fact that it is pricey, and the location of the fest are some major drawbacks.
I know this has been discussed in various threads, but I think it is impossible to have these kind of fests in NA with much cheaper prices.

I think another issue is if you're going to count on people trusting you with not announcing the lineup till the festival starts, you basically have to hit a home run. This isn't bad but it's not worth traveling for.

That's not what I said, but sure, understand however you want.
Even compared to The National's Homecoming fest this year in Cincinnati (which started at $100 for a weekend pass too), this is a massive downgrade. I'm sure it'll be a great weekend for all those attending, but man it's a bummer seeing the lineup so barebones.

No, I just think it’s ironic that most people that post here were huge fans of Bonnaroo because it was the weird, eccentric festival in the middle of nowhere. Now, in an age of generic festivals located just about everywhere, your insinuation is basically give me an inexpensive, generic festival with artists I recognize. Rinse and Repeat. No wonder Bonnaroo brings in Borgore and Getter nowadays.
And I don’t necessarily agree with them hinting at artists that don’t end up showing up, but I’ve also never walked away thinking that the lineup wasn’t worth it; they’ve always found a way to surprise me with sets that would never exist anywhere else.

That poem on Lake Eaux Lune during Julien Baker was just worth the ticket price. The setting is the most beautiful of any festival I've ever been to. The opening ceremony was certainly a reminder of where we are. We're satisfied with our choice, though disappointed with no Sufjan/Planetarium set. Wye Oak was great, and this is the best Julien Baker set of the five I've seen. To each their own.
To me, the obvious one is Pitchfork. Same price range-ish and both disappointing. At least P4K had the cojones to have had the disappointment up for the world to see months ago.
