I wouldn't necessarily go as far as to call one wimpy for checking out Janet at a festival though. This fest has pop acts as while (Kimbra, Cardi B,etc). One could just as easily be called out for listening to Odesza or whatever.
so with every single US lineup in 2018 being disappointing to at least a portion of inforoo, what does a disappointing Day For Night 2018 look like?
Eminem LCD Soundsystem SZA Claude Von Stroke HAIM Vince Staples Soulwax Brockhampton The Black Madonna Jungle
They have the advantage of booking an off season fest so there's not much competition. They also seem to grab a good amount of acts who will be active the following year.

I wasn't doing that. I was calling the music wimpy. People can go see what they want. Unless someone was actively cheering for wimpy shit (Leave Britney Alone!), I'd not want to otherwise be that judgmental or condescending on the individuals because I'm usually too nice of a guy for that. And yes, Day for night does bring in a couple of more popular acts for sure. But they are easily missable considering I probably missed an assload of shit I would have enjoyed as it was.

all true, and the other piece of their strategy is they book good acts.
Fuck that shit. This is Day for Night. We are better.

Maybe you're a fan of all that kind of music. I'd prefer it to be a little more eclectic. So go ahead and be a sarcastic asshole if it helps you through the day. It's nothing personal, I just expect more from Day for Night, and they have delivered.

Ain’t this the same fest that booked En Vogue? I think a little bit of good pop is welcome.
As for Yellow Stage acts, lets get The Black Madonna, Yaeji, Dixon and others in there.

Of course. And I addressed the fact that they get a few pop acts a few posts prior. I was even at that set. Just the same, I'd appreciate Day for Night not spending money on big name pop acts. We did fine with headliners Nine Inch Nails and Aphex Twin the two years I've gone. And I'll take that all again over a mega-pop star act at Day for Night. I expect at Coachella there will be acts like Beyoncé. And if people want to go see that, more power to them. I just don't want Day for Night wasting that money that could otherwise be given to rare musical and sonic acts.

Gotcha. I think having at least one big headliner like Kendrick in 2015 would help sell tickets.
For sure. I love Kendrick. He's a little different though because I think he writes most of his stuff and indeed performs it. My bag is more on studio written and produced stuff given to Big Star X for purposes of creating a hit (McDonald's-ization of music) that they go out on tour and lip synch for screaming and adoring 12 year old fans.
Certainly someone can be both popular and artistic - Elton John and Paul McCartney come to mind from the older days. But certainly in today's world, Kendrick is both a talented artist and performer. I'm certainly not considering Kendrick or even a singer like Adele in the same category of Britney Spears or Milli Vanilli

Yea I'm definitely switching it up this year and going with Sam Houston. Hotel looks super nice and even closer to the fest. Sorry Club Quarters, shoulda opened up your booking sooner. Though I will miss the amazing free espresso, soft drinks, and snacks in the lobby.
I should have seen the robots on Friday night. I only thought the line was long then. The rest of the weekend it was 4 times as long.
i missed them too.
i think the lesson learned and pro move going forward is, if there is an art exhibit you have to lineup up to see, just get in the line as early in the weekend as possible.

The line for the robots was long, but it moved fairly fast. I probably had to wait fifteen minutes. I went through twice. Once early on Sunday, and then I dragged some buddies along later that night after Justice. First time I sorta stood in the back, second time I sat right between the bots.
