Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
somewhat related, mainly a houston thing, but i believe he's also involved in a suit regarding the venue he opened (which i love, and the neighbors hate) so I really hope it doesnt wreck that either.
Yes, a well played bit but probably not in good taste.
Just an update to the current discussion of the thread with the "Confirmed" being a play on typical Inforoo talk. Where's the bad taste? Not meant as a joke about sexual assault?

Wow, these responses from people in this Houston subreddit is pretty damning. Fuck this guy.
"I can’t speak toward these events, but the guy is a giant dick."
"yea. omar can go in a trash can."
"I can’t speak to this specific incident, but Afra is trash. Huge creep."
"hell yea. hes one of the most selfish people ive ever met-bands i know havent been paid from him after playing and promoting his festivals, printing companies the same-and he tries to position himself as this cultural mover and shaker here in houston. hes even planning more music festivals but i think its all to satisfy his twisted fantasies."
"A friend of mine wrote a guest article for FPH and she said she still hasn’t gotten the $200 she was supposed to get for it. She wrote it years ago when she still lived in Houston."
"He sexually assaulted someone really close to me a few years ago. It completely ruined parts of their life. There were tons of rumors about him being a predator and nobody ever did anything about it. He has a wife and kids and still goes around assaulting young women. He thinks that just because he has a good standing in Houston and runs a festival that he can do whatever he wants and can get away with anything."
"That guy used to troll Mangos and Fitzgerald's for fresh hipstergirls He told my cousin he'd leave his wife after 2 weeks. At time she was..maybe 22."
"This dude was creeping on my high school classmates back in 2010... It is good this finally got out."
"he didnt do anything but exploit lots of people and then threatened them. its why it took so long for alot of these girls to come out. and there are dozens of people i know who have been ripped off from him and not paid...i had a good friend who ran the palestinian film festival and she did all the work to build it up and he forced his way in and took over. just one of many examples"
I'm really interested to see what FPH does here. Nothing so far, but they are a very 'white knight' paper (not to use that with a negative connotation, but they led a boy cott R Kelly thing just recently)
That's rich considering they booked him for Summerfest in 2015.
I mean it super sucks, he's put on, and put up some of the best shows and venues recently. He's come out on stage and spoke to everyone a bunch and he always seemed humble and really into making houston a cool city.

I'm thinking overall from an outsider stand point who doesn't frequent inforoo might find it in poor taste. So duck it, just leave it. We all get it. Maybe Omar shouldn't have been a rapey sexual predator and it wouldn't matter.

I don't think you are giving enough credit to how few people give a shit about this website other than its subscribers, who are all emotionally-disadvantaged music nerds to start with.

If if doesnt get cancelled, and Omar doesnt leave; and they book Four Tet and Kraftwerk and Chem Bros and w/e other wet dream.. Would you guys still go; knowing your money is going directly to this guy?

Would you?
Hell no. But I am genuinely curious what others would do.

I don’t know. That’s such a tough question. So much of the festival was based on women, inclusiveness and tolerance. Those issues were given a loud voice and the diversity of the crowd reflected that outreach. I don’t want to support Omar at this point, but if he was to step down or publicly apologize and make shit right, he might get another chance. I already know it would be a lineup with a lot of acts to see and a fun ass trip on top of that. But a similar thing happened to Rehage when he owned and ran Voodoo, and he ultimately was right. Also people do send money to Goldenvoice and Live Nation who have some respective unsavory allegations. I guess initially my answer would have to be no. But I do want D4N back.
Haven't you been saying these fests have been losing money? We'd be paying the acts, pegstar, the investors, the local vendors, the event staff, the rent for the venue, idk, it's not like I'm walking up to him and handing him a hundo. I'm not going to stop reading FPHs poorly written articles by writers trying to make a living because their boss is a goon, and there aren't a lot of papers, tackling the issues they do, around for them to just jump over to.
Either way it’s no one’s place to go judging anyone in here. Omar is the one who fucked up so let’s point the finger at him and not at each other. If someone’s gone and wants to go back, I understand, this fest is great. For those who wouldn’t dare, I get that too.
Edit: for me personally, I loved this festival and I’m super disappointed right now. Being that there are victims though I wouldn’t want to let me own selfish thought cloud my opinion of the situation at hand.
