I wasnt judging anyone. I was asking an honest question. I feel like this board specifically has rode for this festival pretty hard. Just wondering if anyone still would knowing what you know now.
I can't see a situation that allows Omar to remain and a successful festival is put in place other than the victims reveal that accusations were lies. Even then, I feel it's nearly impossible to pull together.
Given a situation where the accusations remain and a festival is put in place, I'd say id sit heavily on not attending. The counter arguement being: I agree w mad dog where I'd love to continue to support the local Houston scene though and Day 4 Night surely helped me bond with H Town much more.
... I dont think Michael Jackson did anything wrong. Fuck the rest of those names though.
I remember some child abuse accusations but I thought those didn't hold up. Duck the rest but I still dabble in old CC.
None of them held up. And whats crazy is you hear Corey Feldman and Macaulay Culkin talk openly these days about all the pedophiles and rapists who did actually prey on children in the entertainment industry back then; they both have absolutely nothing bad to say about Michael and still love him. His children call Culkin their uncle. Jackson was the one who was abused as a kid and it stunted him mentally. He remained a kid in his mind. Some people who endured what he did turn out even more fucked up. For instance; multiple personality disorder stems from child abuse. Jackson just had fame and money and ppl took advantage of his condition. One of the greatest of all time IMO and wish he was still with us.
Sorry for the tangent. I still dabble in old CC too, because Alice obv was a victim and half the talent. But fuck anything after.
There’s no denying his childhood had a direct effect on his mental health and the decisions he made, but there’s also plenty of red flags that support a guilty verdict. I’m usually one of the first to defend him and even feel bad for him, but that’s not to say he was incapable of doing wrong.
Anyways, would love to not make this about that. Just an example of someone who has been able to hold onto a base through scrutiny.

If you wanna talk about what really happened: A dude drugged his own kid, and while under the influence got the kid to say on tape that Michael touched him. The guy then didnt even go to the cops; he immediately went to his lawyer to demand that Michael pay him or he would leak it. Michael didnt pay, dude leaked it. It lead to a criminal investigation that went nowhere. And then that guy sued Michael and extorted millions in a settlement.
Then a few years later someone else let their kid hang out with Michael just so they could do the same shit. Nothing came from a criminal investigation again. Then they sued and got millions from a settlement too.
He never did anything wrong. He was basically special needs (and despite that was one of the most talented musicians who ever lived). Ppl just took advantage of his mental capacity and dragged him through the mud.

Anything after also just isn't that good. As far as a tanget.....what else are we going to talk about?
Hello you all, I just created this anonymous account just to say that I have confidential information from a very reliable source and I knew that Day 4 Night was not going to happen this year before these recent sexual assault allegations. The reason is simply because the dude, or rather, his company, is screwed (wanted to use the "f" word, but not sure I'm allowed in this forum), and has a debt of literally millions of dollars. This debt stems from last D4N's festivals, particularly the last one, which sold very poorly. A disaster would be a better way to put it. They thought that acts like NIN and Thom York would attract enough people, but that wasn't the case. Without going into details, just to book those two acts they had to spend well over a million dollars. So, I'm very sorry for all of you who were hoping the festival would survived. I personally enjoyed them very much. Houston still has other good festivals, and perhaps someone else will step in and fill the void that D4N is leaving.
Also people do send money to Goldenvoice and Live Nation who have some respective unsavory allegations.
Huh? Besides Sean Carlson from FYF, who else has done anything comparable to what Omar is being accused of?
I’m referring to unsavory donations, political patronage and possibly vulture capitalism. I didn’t mean to infer that the respective heads were accused of sexual harassment- just that people do still support them despite maybe being in full disagreement. I can go back and look all that shit but you probably recall the allegations and contributions.

What else you know? We won't tell anybody.
That's pretty much all I know. He owes a lot of money to a lot of people. He's been in serious debt for a while now, and has several people threatening to sue him. Some of them have lost hope of recovering their money, and with these new allegations, it's unlikely he'll be able to pay what his owes, because his name will likely be tainted for a very long time. On top of that, his wife left him several months ago (not sure if this was related to the sexual assault allegations), and that will be an additional hit on his finances, especially since they have 2 kids together, and she'll probably gain custody. It's like he's downward spiraling out of control. I'd put him on suicide watch, if I was a close friend or family. The dude will need help.

Any word on how In-Bloom faired? I went and it's hard to judge a "profitable" crowd size on the ground. I'd like to go back to Houston for a 2/3 day fest next year.

Appreciate the information!
In Bloom is doing well, as far as I know. I believe Live Nation owns part of that festival, so they have the resources to keep it afloat, even under unfavorable circumstances. In Bloom is in fact what the FPSF was, after the Free Press decided to split and focus on D4N. That and because it was getting really difficult to work with Omar, who's not very professional. It's unfortunate, because at first it seemed he was on the right path, but he's definitely not very good managing money. With these new allegations, all these people are coming out and talking about how difficult it was to get paid when they used to work at the Free Press, even close friends of him have told me that.
I just appreciate the effort of someone going all in on an act like Aphex Twin as opposed to just floating the boat with Incubus.
Dayfornight was unlike any other event in this state.
That was a really good D4N, and the first 2 were pretty damn good as well. Unfortunately, there is a very flawed side to Omar that not very many people know about, so despite the good effort, his failure was his own fault.
