This really sucks, D4N was probably the best festival I've ever been to, and i've been to many/most of the big players. It was just so unique and awesome, and probably the only festival I would go to regardless of who was on the bill. Unfortunately it looks like i'll be a one and done.
The James Blake > NIN torrential downpour set > entering that warehouse for the first time will never be forgotten though. What an epic epic experience that was for me.
He told the Chronicle Aug. 16, “Let’s get real here. If I was a barista, it wouldn’t be news that I tried to kiss a girl. For this one fleeting moment, we were the best thing in the world, and it was great. But I think that the very fact that it grew so quickly and it became such a phenomenon is what put a target on it – and me.”
Great closing line. It sure sounds real difficult to run a genuine festival.
It's embarrassing that my favorite one ever had to be run by an extremely volatile and loathed individual. Can't imagine what an attempt to revive it would look like.

Just saying if you are a board regular (or someone with a fest obsession) and haven't been to Coachella, it's still the best multi-genre festival in the country imho and ya should check it out.

I would if I didnt have to drop $1500 to go since I live in MA. It'd be cheaper for me to go to both osheaga and boston calling and still have money to spare. What makes it so amazing compared to all other festivals that justifies the cost?

Location, lineup, schedule, production, etc.
Just based on experience, it's still the most well put together event I've attended thus far.

Yeah I know it takes max funds to make happen, but I highly recommend you plan ahead and try to hit up both at least once. Not to say you can't have a blast at other events, but these are both properly rated/worth the time and investment.

I just remembered how good the crowd was at Godspeed and how I could actually enjoy the show thanks to that. At a lot of festivals it would have been a nightmare of people talking.

How depressing. I've been saying it all year and i'll say it one last time.
I've been to many festivals ranging from large ones like Coachella, Roo, ACL, Jazz fest and Mad Cool.. to much smaller ones. D4N was EASILY the coolest festival experience I ever had, it was one of a kind like nothing I ever experienced before. Bummer things worked out like this.
