Who's been your most expensive headliner? Gorillaz or LCD?
SZA more than both combined
Did not expect this at all. Someone who works for the festival texted me after the lineup dropped and asked my honest opinion and I told them I thought it seemed way deeper but Sza was a huge disappointment at #1 after LCD and Gorillaz. I imagined she was a lot cheaper because her total body of work is so much less then the others.
wtf sza more than gorillaz? regional differences has gotta contribute to part of that
since this is fest curation nerd out thread here's a doc about Nachtdigital hard as hell to make an event but this type of shit inspires me to work towards amazing stuff but without the bullshit that d4n had along with it. yall contribute to the love
I still remember kids that were camped out for Fourtet floor HOURS jumping the front rail at roo to get away from the pit for death grips years ago. The looks on their faces was sheer terror. One if the funniest things I've ever seen at a festival
One of our friends who is in a family/friends group text just said he's in Houston today but not going to Day for Night. He went to the second and third with us. In that regard, I'll just relive some shit I saw in 2016 and 2017:
2016 - Get there and dap off Slim Thug and Paul Wall. Welcome to Houston. Devin on the drone; Mike Jones, who, Slim Thug, Lil Flip, Bun B and Zero. Next was Chelsea Wolfe and onto Thundercat. After that was a trip through Bjork VR, some of Oneohtrix Point Never, Tycho Live, Fat Tony, RTJ, Aphex Twin...
Sunday - Nothing, Vacation Eyes, Daed, S U R V I V E, Uncle A/C & The Deadbeats, Ariel Pink, a bit of Matmos, Lightning Bolt, Marcel Rami & Bachar, Anklepants, Mykki Blanco, Kamasi, RZA & Stone Mecca, Squarepusher, Bjork Digital, Futurelix, Little Dragon, Butthole Surfers, Sophie, Travis Scott and Arca
2017 - Friday Earl, Kaytrananda
Saturday - True American, Deep Cuts, Princess Nokia, Faten Kanaan, Lil B, Panda Riot, Demdike Stare, Pretty Lights, Forest Swords, James Blake, Laurie Anderson, Nine Inch Nails, Venetian Snares & Daniel Lanois, Jlin, G. Jones, Jamie xx
Sunday - Narcons > Shabazz Palaces > Priests > Jessy Lanza > The Album Leaf > Rabit x House of Kenzo > En Vogue > Phantogram > Godspeed You! Black Emperor > Solange > Jesus Lizard > Mount Kimbie > a minute of Shlomo > a minute of Justice > St. Vincent > Tim Hecker > Thom Yorke
:flip-off: some motherfuckers for me not having been in Houston partying at Day for Night this past weekend.

Was on my back and staring at the stars during that GY!BE that night with some fungi. Was absolutely magical. That weekend was insanely packed with great music.

headed to Houston this weekend just to chill with our friends and keep shit real. per my local friend we are eating at Xochi Saturday, UB Preserve Friday, and at some point we'll hit up a new place called Blood Bros BBQ. sucks d4n was cancelled but we've had such a good time in the city the past two years we decided to do a december trip to houston regardless.

SZA has gotten bigger since then. She had that Black Panther song and I assume they booked her before her Grammy noms. They also took a risk putting her that high that early in her career and I assume they got a good deal because of her placement
