And then I'd want UCF, but it'll probably be Georgia. Until they lose the SEC title game. Then it'll be Oklahoma probably.
I think any chance UCF had of getting in stopped with the quarterback injury. He's been such a big part of their success that I'm assuming the committee will expect them to fall off without him.

I think they were probably screwed regardless but yeah I forgot about that.
i completely forgot about oklahoma, but I'd bet they get jumped by osu, osu has better wins.
Oklahoma just beat West Virginia. They play #9 Texas for the Big XII this weekend. If they beat Texas, the only way I see them getting jumped is they win by two and Ohio State blows Northwestern out.
Yeah, I'm joking. College rankings are just really dumb. None of the voters watch the games and it's pretty much all just based on record.
I'd say brand name has more unwarranted impact than record. Once a team (or conference) gets to a certain level, they get a bonus when it comes to ranking. It also happens with preseason rankings. If a team is top five preseason, they basically have to lose to fall out of the top five regardless of how the teams below them are playing. After next weekend, I'd really like to see what everyone's playoff teams are because I don't think they'll be all the same.
They should do away with preseason rankings. Just ignore all rankings till the committee does theirs.

texas isn't jumping to 9 in the cfp rankings, but osu will have ranked wins @psu, MICH, and NU, plus TCU and MSU were ranked when OSU beat them.
OU will have play 2 ranked teams in the regular season and went 1 and 1. Losing to Texas and winning wvu, with an opportunity to pick up another one Saturday.
Moral of my story, Notre Dame needs to fuck off, join a conference, so we don't have to have this discussion.

Lol at UNC hiring Mack Brown. You know the old UNC boosters made that happen.
Satterfield at Appy St would have made a ton of sense for them. He's had them at 28-4 in conference play over the last four years, playing for their 3rd straight conference title on Saturday, and he was raised and played high school football like 10 minutes away from Chapel Hill.

OU got really helped by the polls bumping up a 3 loss Texas team into the top 10, who really isnt that good. If OU wins saturday by 14+, its a lock regardless of what Ohio State does against us

Yeah, I don’t think it even needs to be 14+. I’m surprised OU was ranked over OSU, but now that they are I’d be even more surprised if OU gets jumped next week after a win.

well im going into this Big Ten Championship with the expectation that OSU wins by 30+ and turns up the style points so I think OU might have to as well

I think overall strength of schedule favors OU, but OSU has 2 wins better than OU's best win.
this whole thing could get real ugly if bama loses and OU/OSU win handily

Bama losing to Georgia would make life easy on the committee. They do not want to give a spot to OU or OSU - they would pick Bama in that situation in a heartbeat.

I tend to agree with this. Unless Georgia just absolutely blows their doors off, the committee will put Alabama in citing body of work and their loss being to a playoff team. I'd rather it not be that way but I don't make decisions.
Most fans I know wanted him gone, but I wonder who Pruitt will tap as a replacement.
It's hard to say. We were paying helton over $1M tho, so there's room in the budget to make a splashy hire. I'm sure a vocal (delusional) part of our fan base will want Kingsbury or Kiffin.

bama will have one good win, @lsu, with other notables being vs MissSt and vs TAMU, yea they pass the eye test, but denying 2 one-loss conference champs in favor of a one-loss non-conference champ feels wrong.
Most of.the.scenarios I've seen are easy but how about this one? Oklahoma, Ohio St, UCF all lose. Who's 4th?
Um, Georgia?
That's what I would say too. Does it matter how bad Bama beats them? What if Bama wins by 30+? Would they really want a Bama-UGa rematch? Because that's what it would be. It's interesting to think about that one.

Eh, I don’t think there’s anything here. Even if Alabama blows them out, the OU OSU losses would look bad even if close. Texas would probably jump up a bit, and Michigan might pass UCF, but Georgia would have to stay at 4.

1. bama 2 clemson 3. notre dame 4. georgia
I fuckin hate LSU's ranking, but they could say UGA's two losses were to highly ranked teams, while OU lost to an decent Texas team, and OSU lost to a decent NU team.
Are people taking UCF seriously this year as legitimate contenders, albeit with some help needed?

Looks like Freeze is the top choice for the moment.

Well, he did beat Saban a couple times.
He also doesn't know how to use a burner phone when calling hookers and left Ole Miss in some serious NCAA hot water. He seems a little slimy to me, especially for as much bible thumping as he did. But, he was tapped into the Memphis recruiting area and that has been getting better in recent years. If we do make that hire, VolTwitter gonna get a lotta shiz about the Schiano thing last year lol.

Completely agree about the sanctimonious BS. If UT pulls the trigger on him, Pruitt and Fulmer will keep him on a tight leash and limited media availability. Not quite the same as Schiano, though I wouldn't worry too much about the intellectual consistency of VolTwitter.
On a side note, given all of shiz that came out about Zach Smith at OSU, can you imagine if we had actually hired Schiano citing Meyer's endorsement. As embarrassing as all that was, we really dodged a bullet.
