well game didn't end as badly as it should have been with all them fuck offs by them dawgs in the first half. def felt like a homage to Coach Richts time at UGA.
but our crew is young and new crop of players is looking great. #2 recruit class down from #1 last season. we will be back & around for a while.
just like that old classic goes, "sit down, be humble." and some of them dawgs def got some humbling to do.
Georgia fans definitely need to learn from that song. It's funny/scary because I was also thinking about that song with this situation. I use to like Georgia. I would say if I had a 2nd team it would be Georgia. I have good friends that are from there and I'm there a lot. Their fans are so fucking annoying though. So much cockiness that hasn't been earned. Yea it looks like you're on the way but you're definitely not there yet. So sit down little bitch. Be humble.

I'm talking everyone. All the players talking all that shit that they should have been in the playoff. If they wanted to make that point they should have beat the shit out of Texas. Instead they got manhandled and have people saying they didn't want to be there. Georgia hasn't won enough to be acting that way. You gotta earn it.

eh its a exhibition game when the team felt like they should be playing for a title. and the early recruiting period hurt Smart's gameplanning. This is surprising but very unimportant at least for UGA

I mean just to put some perspective on this, this was a game in New Orleans that is reasonable travel distance from both teams and a fun city, a matchup that is novel and doesnt happen very often, and a New years Day bowl, and yet ticket prices were $15 bucks on stubhub for this game. The fans didnt care, the players didnt care, and the coaching staffs didnt care as they were dealing with the early signing period and trying to flip guys who who didnt commit on Dec 17th. A very meaningless game, no need to be "humble"

It matters. If you believe it doesn't there's the problem. Whenever Bama doesn't make the playoff I can understand their fans being disappointed. Whenever Clemson doesn't make it I'm sure we'll be disappointed but not to the same degree. Georgia is not in a position to feel that way. They need to take every opportunity to take a game like that and build on it.

1980 was a long time ago, 38 or so years ago. Most people on this forum weren't around back then. I remember that game. There's been plenty of "we're a pretty damn good team" all these years. Regular Season champions? Sure.

I'd assume you were a Northwestern fan by your handle, yet here you are making the typical SEC excuses - if they win bowl games, it shows how much better the SEC is, and if they lose bowl games, they didn't care enough. I hate this about the SEC.

People are clearly losing interest in the bowls. There are too many and the matchups aren’t that interesting any more. Throw in a bunch of your team’s best players making the (correct) decision to sit out and secure the NFL bag, it’s a big recipe for who gives a fuck.

Definitely agree. The NCAA needs to put a limit on the number of bowls or create some kind of incentive for them. I love watching football, and I cannot even summon the energy to watch most bowl games.

I hate the whole SEC mentality. I'm not a fan of a conference. Fuck the ACC. I hope they all lose. Except when they play SC. lol 28-0 Virginia.

I watched a little bit of the CFP games but that’s it.

I didn't watch as much as I use to. I don't think I watched any before Christmas. After that I watched most of them. There just weren't that many great games. There are definitely too many and the playoff has diminished pretty much everything else. But bowls are still fun and they mean something. I just someone call the Sugar Bowl meaningless and that's ridiculous. It's still the freaking Sugar Bowl. If you can't get excited for your team to play there there's definitely a problem.

Im not a fan of a conference, dont like the other Big Ten teams, and before I attended Northwestern I was actually a Florida fan, so I am no one to just defend UGA. But the truth is, the bowls increasingly dont matter due to decisions that the College Football fandom claim to want, ie 4 team playoffs and soon an 8 team playoff. I think this is a bad thing, because the same 5-7 teams get the best talent over and over and over each year, but if the focus is increasingly on playoff or bust, you cant blame one of the 5-7 teams that actually have a shot at winning it all for only caring about playoff games.

the problem for the ncaa is they need to appear to have some sort of semblance of equalness or fairness across all of FBS, even though there's a strong tilt in the favor of P5 over G5. like who is even going to/watching these bowl games between 2 6-6 or 7-5 Sun Belt/MAC/etc schools? They'd obviously be the first cuts in a theoretical bowl cut down, but then you just increased the divide between P5 and G5 even greater.
has there been a downtick in interest in bowl games in general? yea. Is it due to the playoffs? It's hard to say. Bowl games mean different things to different teams. Look at the Kentucky Penn State game, all broadcast they were hyping up how much UK wanted to win so they could have a 10 win season, when for us, it was just another game. I know next to nothing about UK football, but that was probably a top 10 all time win for them, had penn state won, that wouldn't even crack a top 50 list (im trying to word this in a way that doesn't make me sound like a UGA fan, all credit to UK for winning). so everything varies on a per program basis.
if they expand to an 8 team playoff, everything will depend on how the teams are picked. I'd like to see all 5 P5 conference winners, top ranked G5, and next 2 highest ranked teams. That gives a majority of the country a clear path to the playoff. if they do some top 8 best teams bs, then it could devalue bowl games since everyone on the fringe 9-12) will say they deserve a shot, and these are the teams that end up in NY6 bowls.

did penn state and kentucky both equally want to win? yea, probably. did the win mean more to UK? 100% yes. we beat lsu in the 2010 citrus bowl, guaranteed neither program was too worked up about winning or losing it.
Tbh if OU didnt have Kyler Murray then we’d have probably beaten them in the Conference Title game (assuming OU still even makes it that far without him). Will Grier from WVU will be gone, as well as Holgerson. Big XII should be more open next season and with those two falling off a little bit, no team is better set up to take the Conference than Texas. Playoffs or not, i’d say our chances of making at least the Cotton Bowl are pretty strong.

You can think whatever you'd like, and good luck to ya, I got nothing against the 'horns. I just won't believe Texas is BACK until they win the Big XII and are in playoff consideration like they should be.
