Bummer, Smashing Pumpkins playing Montreal two days after this.
Gives me a reason to stay in Montreal two extra days.
I get the feeling that Corgan tried to get booked by the major festivals and none of them gave him what he wanted so he decided to do an arena tour instead, specifically in cities that have major music festivals in their cities

LOL, Corgan is such a spiteful cunt that he would totally do that (see also being in NYC around Panorama).

Nah, arena tours is more money than fests. I bet they do fests next year.

Depends on lineup placement and a few other factors.

Personally I would have rather Pano booked Pumpkins than Killers. But Killers are probably a bigger draw.

Arena tours do generate a lot more than fests but the routing and city choices still make me feel like that was his move. They are skipping the largest city that doesnt have a city music festival (DC) and playing dates that come within 2 weeks of the city's main festival in the other main markets. They also playing Austin

They get a big deal of the concessions, sell more merch. But also it's more on them to fill the seats.
Festivals are also usually double if not more the capacity of arenas. Thats also double if not more people they can be selling t-shirts and what not to.

They're going to sell more shirts to an arena full of people that came just to see them.

Baltimore snagged away the tour in lieu of DC for some reason.

woah. Radiohead just announced they are playing Montreal July 16th and 17th
Too bad they weren't a little later in the month Damn.
I'll still try to make the NYC or Philly shows. This really brightened my day.
I was pretty down on 2018, but now it is looking like I am going to be seeing Radiohead, Gorillaz, Depeche Mode, LCD Soundsystem, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jack White, The Original Misfits, Smashing Pumpkins, Arctic Monkeys, Kendrick Lamar, and Phoenix all within two months. Not a bad concert calendar.

where are LCD and Gorillaz playing?
Gorillaz rumored for both this and Lolla, so not definite. LCD are playing with Yeah Yeah Yeahs out in LA in May.

So I figure the banner I saw on their website is for tomorrow, and one of the artists is Portugal the man. They play an Osheaga presents show tonight and should be included in an announcement tomorrow

They just released the Heavy Montreal lineup. Doubt Evenko would release the lineup for two of their festivals in the same week. Guessing Osheaga is still a bit of a ways off.

Totally different demographics, though. I'm still hopeful
