I forgot how ridiculously exhausting the distance skiing events look. I can't imagine firing a rifle accurately, let alone while panting and also it's freezing outside.
I'm really regretting not doing something different for my Celebrity Reality Show so that I could have included Johnny and Tara. I could watch them forever.
My cousin's ex ("Rig") is reporting on the Winter Olympics now for his podcast "Shitshow", where he and his co-host Gus are representing the fake nation of Riggustan.
This video will be the best 1:43 you spend all day.
All of the Adult Sledding events are pretty crazy, though some of the Throw Yourself Down a Mountain events would probably be more likely to make me actually crap my pants, and get dead.
I think I speak for all of us who mainly partake in indoor sports in the winter when I say the Winter Olympics are harder to relate to than the Real Olympics, but Winter olympians sure have some cojones, even in the various sequin-related competitions, which would just amount to a lot of falling down and cussing for us. A lot of it is fun to watch though even if it isn't hockey or curling.
Personally, I prefer Winter Olympics. I have very little interest in track & field events. Meanwhile, I grew up playing hockey and I've spent most of my life living in various parts of NY so I get exposed to a lot of winter sports.
(I love the enthusiasm of the snow boarders and the skiers especially. It's hard not to root for them.)
A bunch of my friends here in Korea have gone to some of the events and have told me that it was absolutely miserable. Nowhere near enough facilities, running out of food every day, which is only steamed white rice and buns, tiny shelters from the blistering cold winds that have loooooong lines just to go and not watch the events but stay warm for a few minutes. And this is only with 60% tickets sold.
I read somewhere just earlier that Korea is staring down a $10 billion loss. But hey maybe it will drum up tourism in this country that doesn't really give a flip about winter athletics. lol. This is why only two countries put up a bid for 2022, one of them being the most populated country in the world, and why there is no Winter Olympics set for 2026 yet.
I am sure enjoying them from my living room la-z-boy and fireplace. Love the luge and that silver medal. Love Red and Chloe. I hear Shawn is ripping it up this morning. My favorite so far is the young Russian skater who is into anime art and dancing. She is one in a long line if amazing ice skaters and gymnists from Russia. I'm for unity for Korea but reality is the North is the worst of worst when it comes to hate, abuse, and oppression. I'm afraid Uns sister was sent to do some recon. He wants to take over the South and then the World.
And people here are absolutely livid that Korea marched under one flag, thus pushing a lot of South Koreans off the team. Imagine training pretty much your whole life for a chance to compete in the olympics in your home country, only for two weeks before the event to be told that "yeah these guys from the country that wants to kills us all? They need your spot on the team, so yeah sorry you're cut. We know you are more talented than them and would actually better our team's chances for a medal, but the committee says we have to let least at this many join... sooo sorry." Protests this past weekend were very... passionate.

yeah, that's an interesting wrinkle I haven't heard too much about. I wasn't aware they kicked players off the team, thats pretty fucked up. Especially with them not even having that many athletes compared to the big 5.
Finally off work and can watch me some flying tomato.
It’s funny, siting at home it seems so peachy that North and South Korea are participating together. Then you get hit with the reality from someone there and realize it’s not all fun and games and lots of athletes got screwed. That does suck.
You all can die doing skeleton or luge all you want, I'm going out via ski jump. That shit's cray.
I *thought* I was going to die snowboarding once... on the bunny hill... my first time snowboarding... which was my last time snowboarding. I've always been fairly athletic and can ski a little bit without being terrified, but holy shit that seemed hard.

No. It is terrifying! Both of your feet are strapped into that thing. Your only defense is sitting down!
