No. That's wrong. He has exclusive rights to Weir only in this scenario.
why? Weir and Dessners recorded an album together and toured it. There's noting in the rules about degrees of separation. What everyone seems to be set on is you get a degree of separation, Planent > Sufjan/National, but not two degrees Plant > Sufjan/National > El Vy.
Only Aaron was a part of that. I took Bryce. Not sure how it's relevant at all.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
I really don't think his pick should be contested, it clearly falls within the rules and everyone challenging it is just butthurt he made a great pick and gets to reap the benefits with extra picks later on in the draft. You're literally in the middle of the game, why should you change the rules now after you've already started?
lol im not butthurt he made a "great pick" or that he thought of it first, its not like planetarium is the only supergroup ever. i just don't think there are really rules set for how deep the side projects go.
2) Once an artist or member of an act is drafted, they are unavailable to anyone else in any capacity. For example, if Gorrilaz is drafted, Blur is unavailable because Damon Albarn has been drafted.
This is very vague, and uses a pretty cut and dry example. nothing in this rule takes into account bands with multiple side projects. my example of the draft order of Strokes/Voidz/Hammond is not at all explained by this rule, its just kind of agreed if you draft Strokes you get them all, but I don't really see anything to suggest if you draft Voidz you wouldn't get Hammond transitively.

There are eight million different permutations and I was not about to make a thirty-point subrule to clarify what might be okay and what might not be. The theory is that once an act is committed to a festival, they're there all weekend and unavailable somewhere else. In the event that the band members are not available elsewhere, then their other projects would not be either.
In this situation, the only thing that can be contested is whether or not Planetarium as an entity is draftable. If it is, then the guy from The National is off the table for anyone but tЯist♡n.

I just want to make sure I can still take Berninger's sexy ass with El Vy.

Question: If hambone were to eventually draft The National, would he be able to trade them? Or would Planetarium + Sufjan have to be included in the package? I personally don't think this should be the case and could help with some balancing issues.

Yeah. The guy that was in tЯist♡n's project is unavailable which means that The National is unavailable but that does not mean all of the other members of The National are off the table until The National is actually selected.

I'd like to be able to answer yes. He has booked his act exclusively but if someone else compensates him in a way that he sees fit to free up a member from exclusivity then I think that's fair. That's my interpretation but I suppose that might end up having to be resolved in a poll.

That's fine. The order and the degree of separation was my biggest concern, does that need to be put in the OP as an official rule?

I don't think so. It's not a rule. I was just helping to clarify the rule, not changing anything.

Yikes.
For the record I think he should have the draft rights to Suf, the National, et al. but if he refuses to use them they should be fair game in the UDFA stage.

This was my thought as well. He just reserved the right to draft the national before anyone else. If he doesn’t draft them then they are an Undrafted band and open for anyone in the free agent stage
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

nah, because that would conflict with using a FA spot on a band playing two sets, which we already have a precedent for. if he doesn't use them in FA that's his call, but that part's supposed to be off the thread so no one else would know if he did or not.
Do you think I will be up before Wednesday? Tomorrow is Mardi Gras and I will be out of pocket all day.
You should be up by then but if you want to designate someone else to make your pick, just let us know who'll be doing it so that we can tag them. (And that we know that they're supposed to be picking for you!)

I don't think we can change the rules mid-game. He gets The National, Sufjan, and I get Thom Yorke solo. I'm not gonna waste a draft pick on someone only I can have (if I understand the rule correctly).

i believe the new rule coming into play is if you wanted to trade Thom Yorke for any band, would you have to A) Trade Radiohead and Thom, B) Draft Thom and trade for X, or C) Trade an 'exclusive FA' to someone for a draft pick.
I would say that B) seems reasonable; if you really wanted the National, and Ham wanted Thom, you would draft Thom, he would draft National and then you'd trade.
