Thought we could use a dedicated thread for monitoring the Smashing Pumpkins disaster in the making reunion tour. Major cities selling okay, everywhere else, bad!
This reunion would feel more special if Billy Corgan (weren't a tool) had not continued touring/putting out music as a bullshit version of their former selves.
Like weren't they just playing crap radio fests a couple of years ago? This arena tour was booked as if the past 20 years after Melancholy didn't happen.

Also this. Ol’ Billy really pissed away the Pumpkins legacy.
The ticket prices and venue choices were just absurd for the draw the band has at this point. In Columbus they're playing an 18,000 seat venue where you'd be paying $50-70 (not including fees) to sit in the NOSEBLEEDS! The 3 nosebleed sections that are only $30 are selling pretty well, but just eyeballing it I'd say around 75% of the tickets are still available, if not more. If Billy had just swallowed his ego and gone after 5K-10K capacity venues with multiple dates in big markets and more reasonable prices, the tour would have easily sold out and generated a ton of positive buzz. Instead, you've just got this continuing clusterfuck of a "reunion" tour.
They should have taken a real hiatus and then tried the reunion. Trading in hired players for an OG reunion only a year or two later just isn't all that effective.
They shouldve included a big opener like Janes Addiction or Pixies or someone from the late 80s/90s or scheduled only like 10 shows at big cities like Chicago, NYC, Boston, LA, Dallas etc. instead. The prices are fucking ridiculous to justify for only the Pumpkins, reunion or not.
It’s not surprising at all though. It’s just such an ambitious run. Pavilions would have been more appropriate. I might jump on some if they drop to $10.

Alright, how long before they cancel some of the shows and say something like it was a “production” issue beyond “our control”? I think Katy Perry pulled that stunt last year for some of her shows, saying something similar.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol

You leave Katy Perry out of this. We're here to mock the Smashing Pumpkins, who, by the by, have never performed atop a giant mechanical lion nor with dancing sharks.

Billy may be a lot of things but at least he's not a SATAN WORSHIPPING, CHILD SACRIFICING, JESUS CUCKING, ILLUMINATI PUPPET!

Perhaps, but who would you like to ride a roller coaster with?

This is slander. My lawyers will be in touch with you soon.

$10? Fuck that, I'm waiting for the massive ticket giveaways.
I know it's fun to make fun of Billy, but this tour has been on sale for four days. With the prices they're charging and the stronger sales in the larger markets I'm sure they've already made money.
Arcade Fire just wrapped up a NA tour playing to half full basketball arenas all over the country. I don't remember any cancellations or mass ticket giveaways.

Arcade Fire must have definitely lost money on their last tour. And there were definitely freebies handed out (which is how i got through the door).

Arcade Fire definitely lost money on their last tour? I didn't realize you were privy to their financials. Even a half full arena holds 10k people. 10k tickets at $50-$85 a pop is a lot of dough.
And sure, almost every show will have some giveaways as a promotion. But the vast majority of people who saw that AF tour paid to get in the door.

Arcade Fire sold out the floor and most of the prime seats tho. And they were coming off of their worst marketing campaign of their existence
