What's this festival like? I've always assumed it would be similar to Lollapalooza, which I didn't enjoy too much. I thought it was too big, too crowded, and ended too early.

It has its fair share of lame-os but nothing that should affect anyone's decision to attend.

Smaller, but don't underestimate the power and size, as the title is hinting, of CHAIR ZONEs.

This lineup is solid. I'm not a McCartney junkie like some people, but Metallica/Gambino/Monkeys is great, and with some small stuff like Greta Von Fleet it'll be fantastic. I do hope it's cooler than last year - it was like the surface of the sun in Zilker last year.
I wanna do this so bad but theres no way I can swing it. Between the flights, tickets, and hotel for 2 it's too much. Plus I know there r some football game tickets im gonna be purchasing in the next couple months. Really sucks cus if there was any yr to make the trek this would be it.

Already convinced a couple of my friends, who weren't even considering it before, to buy a ticket and fly in for this. Didn't take much either - this lineup is definitely ridiculous.

I didn't mind the temp, but my allergies almost killed me last year. I legit used my nebulizer every single night last year. I couldn't even tell you how many times I used my inhaler. It was so bad.

Anyone else I should be checking out for Wk 1?
Golden Dawn Arkestra will be one of the most fun shows of the weekend, Sweet Spirit is a local favorite, Sailor Poon is a good riot grrrl punk rock band.

Eh, with a lot of the late shows (at least for the bigger acts), you'd have to dip out from the fest early to make it in time. In the past, I've attended night shows on the weekend that I didn't attend the fest, but I don't live in Austin anymore, so that's no longer feasible. As for The Killers show, that was a total last-minute surprise and I'd be stunned if anything like it happened again. And ACL Tapings require a stroke of luck to snag tickets for them (and they also often conflict with the night time fest acts if they aren't in the middle of the week).
I say all of this not to be negative, but to be straight up. None of these things are opportunities that I think people should bank on, especially if they're just driving/flying in for the weekend.

And there are other names I wouldn't mind seeing if the scheduling allows. So psyched!

I'm surprised how popular they're getting here. They went from free shows to being a closer for levitation club shows pretty swiftly. They're good though, I've some how managed to not see them despite all the free shows.
