saints vikes should be a fun one next sunday night
Loser of this game will be the NFC super bowl team
LOL. I think the Saints are a serious contender. But again, with our schedule this year, I'm not even super optimistic we'll make the playoffs. We did just win against the Ravens, against whom we were 1-5 all time heading into yesterday. We don't match up that great against AFC North teams, because we don't play the outdoors/jumbo type of football that the Browns and Ravens (and sometimes Steelers) are known for. So that's one critical win to keep us a game and 1/2 behind the 7-0 Rams who haven't taken their bye week yet. But this is not even fucking remotely easy:
10/28 - Saints @ 4-2-1 Vikings (Sunday Night)
11/04 - Saints vs. 7-0 Rams (3:25 Game of the Week)
11/11 - Saints @ 4-3 Bengals
11/18 - Saints vs. 3-4 Eagles
11/22 - Saints vs. 2-4 Falcons (Thursday Night Game)
11/29 - Saints @ 3-4 Cowboys (Thursday Night Game)
12/09 - Saints @ 3-3 Bucs
12/17 - Saints @ 4-2 Panthers (Monday Night ending a 3 game away stretch)
12/23 - Saints vs. 3-2-1 Steelers (3:25 Game of the Week)
To drop a little more evidence for trantsgiving's guys to be winners for worst team in the league, reports are Patrick Peterson is demanding to be traded before the deadline.

He’s a top 3 (at least) man corner in the league and they’re using him in a zone defense that doesn’t work. I don’t blame him but I don’t think they’ll trade him. Keim probably knows Wilks is gone after this year anyway.

Trade deadline causing things to heat up, y'all. I feel like this is a short term gain long term risk kind of thing for Gruden. Trading away two of your best players and getting two first round picks for them sounds awesome and all, but he's basically fucked if they don't turn out well (which they probably won't).

Will they draft 0 or 1 decent player with those 3 first round picks?

They've netted three first rounders in those two trades. Maybe it buys him time because he can point to those picks and say "we gotta see how these work out". Worth nothing that Reggie McKenzie is the GM, though I'm sure Gruden has sway. I think giving up Mack for just about any price was probably not a great move, but a first round for Amari is decent for them.
Well, they are moving to Vegas. Might as well start the high stakes risks now.
Acquiring picks isn't particularly risky.
Crazy that the Cowboys couldn't get something done with Earl Thomas but throw a first rounder at Oakland for Amari now that they're 3-4.
It's Joey Galloway/Roy Williams all over again.
I hate the Seahawks for a lot of reasons, but I'll never forgive them for what they did to Earl. I get the "it's business" argument in some cases, but it's not even the case here. They had one of the best safeties of the decade and failed to either lock him up (on a team that had already failed to keep the pieces around him, surprising he was even willing to sign a deal with them) or trade him. I really hope holdouts become more common and successful.
If you watch the video, the flags above the posts aren't moving
They weren't. But that doesn't mean that the wind at that particular point wasn't swirling lower/higher/in front of the goal posts. It's weird like that in some of the stadiums where the wind can be tricky. The flags weren't moving, but if you watch the trajectory of the ball, it's clear that it's meeting some type of resistance as it sails outside the upright. It was kind of a miracle win for us that it went down that way. And I'll take it. Tucker nutted up after the game though. From Peter King's Football Morning in America:
No matter how many teammates told him they loved him Tucker knew one thing: The game was his fault. And when something’s Justin Tucker’s fault, he owns it.
After the game, in the quiet Ravens’ locker room, Tucker approached VP of public relations Chad Steele and asked quietly: “Hey, can I do the podium?” Usually, coach John Harbaugh and quarterback Joe Flacco appeared at the post-game podium in front of a room of reporters. In a case like this, reporters would see Tucker at his locker. But he knew the size of this moment, and he knew there’d be a demand.
“I want to face it,” Tucker told Steele.
Also, he notes that in the Tennessee Titans/Chargers game, Pro Football Focus' stats show that a QB sneak had a good chance of success. Some of us noted yesterday we weren't sure of the exact odds one way or the other. Here they are:
47.2% chance to convert a 2 point conversion from the 2
58.4% chance to convert a 2 point conversion from the 1
"Since 2013, quarterbacks running on fourth and two or less in the Red Zone have converted on 79% of their attempts." 538 notes that since the extra point try was moved back, the success rate is 94.4%.

idk the reaction here is that the Cowboys majorly screwed up, as far as stuff I'm seeing. the mack thing probably going to be a bigger bite in the ass, but idk he could always tear his acl or something and then grudens a genius.

Don't we have a resident Seahawks fan on the board? I'd be curious to know how they felt.
The NFL and NBA are all about your second contract. The Seahawks made Earl Thomas the highest paid player in the league when it was time for his second contract.
I don't know why you would root for more holdouts. They are annoying as fuck. Why are we even doing 4 year contracts if the expectation is that its really only 3 years? Earl will probably be good at age 33... but It is only smart to use the final year of a contract to evaluate a player. I think Earl, even with the injury, will still be worth a lot, but if he was asking for 4 years and a shitload of money... idk. And I think this could end up being a bad slippery slope. I've heard rumblings that Leonard Fournette is delaying his return to preserve himself for his second contract. Its his second year in the league like wtf.
there's just no good reason to go to an NFL game. everyone is just shit canned and awful, not nearly as good of a view as basketball, not nearly as chillable as baseball, way too expensive, parking is a nightmare.

Work is doing a night at the Titans-Jaguars game in December. People keep trying to get me hype to go, but I'm just not. In addition to what you mentioned, that game is on the trajectory to be unwatchable.
Re: Cooper, I think this trade is definitely better for the Raiders than the Mack trade. Cooper is good but he's a bit of an injury risk. It's just leaving a lot of the Raiders future in the air based off how those draft picks work out. I would expect that they're working on trading one of the three picks to get a more established player.

HUBRIS! Ol Jake Elliot knew what was up..
For what its worth, went to cowboys panthers in Dallas in 2015 and panthers cowboys in Carolina this season and the experience is what you make of it. If you buy 500-level tickets, you're gonna get a beer poured on you and likely hear and see some shit you wouldn't if you spend a little extra to buy your way into a less shitty crowd. That, or save a fuck ton of money and stay home. Either way, games and the crowds that attend them are substantially more tame than they were in the 90s.

Agreed. The best part is tailgating, not the actual game lol. And even that isn't ideal because you have to use port-a-potties

I've never been to a Pats game, largely for the reasons you've listed above. Nosebleeds in the corners are like $100, and parking is another $50.
I have floated the idea in the past of going to Cleveland, Buffalo, or some other city with a lackluster team. Get to check out a new place for a couple days, and the tickets should be a lot cheaper out there.
