Garth Algar: Do you ever get the feeling Benjamin's just using us?
Wayne Campbell: Good call. It's like he wants us to be liked by everyone. I mean Led Zeppelin didn't write tunes everybody liked. They left that to the Bee Gees.
^ I noticed that. Pretty sweet since I live walking distance from Tinsley Park, but it is going to be HOT those days. The lineup looks excellent though, and the price can't be beat - $12 for a 2-day pass? I paid that for two beers at Centeroo this weekend.
anyone going to see xavier rudd in austin this saturday??
My boyfriend and I are considering it....the only thing holding me back is that we want to go to Fiesta Texas on Sunday and I don't know if a hangover (that I'll be sure to get) will be awesome for that.
I should know by tomorrow...it's at la zona rosa, right?
We decided not to go....it would only be $40, but that's money we don't have the weekend after roo + beer costs. Flamingo Cantina for me...hope you're having fun Hippie!
Also, I was listening to Pez's "Festival Song" (it was our theme song on the drive to roo) and realized that he mentions Xavier Rudd in the song...something about savin' bud for Xavier Rudd.

hahahaha...that's awesome. and funny, too, because he was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO corned out last night. me and a couple others hung out behind the stage and got to hang out with him and his band for a while. they were so high he could barely talk...lol. SUCH a nice guy, and his new bassist and i talked for a while. the bassist and drummer are both from africa...so much fun! i'm uploading pics and video now. the guy who opened for him, jeremy fisher, was good, too.

oh yes! definitely flying!
next year i think roo may be out. i just attended my third one, so i've gotten the experience. i'd like to do roth>allgood next year, and maybe one more smaller one.
We were thinking Roo & All Good....I'm from Pennsylvania originally, so allgood would be a nice place to meet up with home-friends and family. I definitely can't afford to fly to two fests, I'm a jobless student haha.
If only we could all afford to take summers off from school and work and hit up all of them.... /dream-life.
Awwww. Clarity. Sorry to say it, but lubbock might suck. I guess you are going to tech? Its a dry town, so that kinda sucks. Just be prepared for lots of dust and flatness.
Is anyone else going to make it to the ghostland shows at whitewater rocks next wknd? I will be there with friends at the saturday show.

actually, lubbock has just recently turned into a wet county, so you won't have to worry about that. but unless you find someone from lubbock on the boards, no one will really be in your "area" as lubbock is pretty darn far from every other major city in texas.
my biggest advice would be to not get discouraged too quickly once you're there because i could totally see myself being that way. the people won't be what you're used to, or what you like(at least the students won't be), whatever music "scene" is in lubbock probably won't be what you like either. people don't exactly go to lubbock to get discovered. however, despite all that, in every town there is always some kind of counter-culture. i know at A&M(probably the MOST conservative state univ. in texas), there was/is a fantastic minority of people who seem to always find a way to find each other. there's always that one bar or that one coffee shop or SOMETHING where those people hang out. just gotta ask around.
My fiance is going to be teaching at Tech and I'm going with him. I'm pretty convinced I'm going to have to make my own fun.
I am sure lots has changed since I was living in Lubbock last - I think most of you were either in diapers or not quite thought of - it's been 22 years - but back then - there was not much to do but cruise 34th or head out to Buffalo Springs Lake and float a keg down the river. I understand from friends that it has grown tremendously tho. A quick search of Jambase turned up Willie Nelso woth Bob Dylan and John Mellencamp and a Staind concert (not much help, huh?)
Dallas is only about 6 hours away tho- same distance to Albequerque and Oklahoma City.
Have fun on the Cap Rock - check out the Llano Estacado Winery - pretty good wines for a little ole Texas place.
