austin music hall is terrible. the acoustics suck, and the shows are generally more expensive there than at stubb's. i'm still pissed the backyard is no longer around...that was a great venue...you couldn't stand anywhere that didn't still give you a good view of the stage. you'd think being the "live music capital of the world" that they could build an amphitheater like the mitchell pavilion in the woodlands, or the smirnoff/swbell venue in dallas. the smaller club venues can be nice, but i like the outdoors!

Portugal The Man plays in Austin tonight and tomorrow, they tore dallas a new Kanye Wednesday. Severely recommended. I was thinking about summerfest, but its in Houston and if I want humidity I will go to Hangout fest on the beach.
STS9 I will be skipping it looks like. Saw them twice at ACL, conserving cash.
Flaming Lips in Denton is a certainty, then Muse in fort Worth next week followed by immediately departing for Austin afterwards for SXSW.
Then Hangout fest possibly.
Leading up to Glastonbury 3 week European adventure this summer. Thats my focus. Me and Zoie are going.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.

Reggae Fest in Austin should be KILLER this year. Easy Star Allstars and Sierra Leone Refugee Allstars are headlining!! Along with them will be Killer Bees, Grimy Styles, Mau Mau Chaplains, Jah Roots, and more!!

oh hell yeah. i've got a bunch of friends heading up there from my area. i think we might get a hotel room, but it's already pretty packed, so i don't know that i for sure have a spot. hopefully my tax return will be deposited into my account by then, and i wouldn't mind paying for a room myself as long as i had a place to stay.
I did see Black Joe Lewis last night at Walter's, and it was amazing. Sold out and overflowing, and Local blues legend Little Joe Washington showed up and subbed for Black Joe on guitar and vocals for a few songs. See em if you can this tour.
Houston International Festival in 2/3 weeks. P-Funk, King Sunny Ade, Ozomatli, Steel Pulse, Mighty Diamonds, Easy Star Allstars and more. Even if you're not here in town some of these bands might be touring the region...

HippieNaustin,
The backyard is still around. They were just moving it because the old area had become too populated. It opens up again real soon. I've been getting all kinds of e-mails about shows there including Willie's 4th of July Party.

My B/F and I hail from the great ATX and are going to Bonnaroo this year. We are considering renting a larger vehicle or wondering if there are any Austinites or Texans on our way out that would like to split a ride or if someone has room for two folks that will split throw down for gas $$.
anyone need another attendy for the trip up to bonnaroo? My friend needs a ride and has gas money to pay. Or if anyone is interested in car pooling or following a bunch i have full car and more people to rep texas would always be nice.

Dude im pretty sure you got taken up on that offer already but i will be driving in to texarkana tejas, my hometown, the 9th, and there are 3 of us going but it would be cool to kick it with a fellow roo'r. We could pitch gas or you could ride with us from Txk. Or if anyone reading this might want to talk about it shoot me a message. We will be pre-partying in txk the 9th and 10th so anyone passing by those nights should come meet up!!!
This looks promising! Is anyone from the Houston area still willing to add 1 to their carpool? My name is Josh Mead and I've done ACL 3 times and lollapalooza once. I'm pumped about checking out bonnaroo for the first time but I'd say I'm festival experienced. If anyone would be willing to split gas and meet up with me in Houston I'd love to make the trip!
Wishlist for 2011: Daft Punk, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arcade Fire, Mumford and Sons.
Festivals for me this year: SXSW 3/11-20 UMF 3/25-27 Coachella 4/14-17 Wakarusa 6/03-06 Bonnaroo 6/9-12 Glastonbury 6/22-26 Lollapalooza 8/5-7 ACL 9/16-18 Voodoo Festival 10/28-31 Fun Fun Fun Fest ?? MAYBE more
So, anyone from Austin interested in caravaning there and/or entering together to form a group campsite?
I'll have my own rental SUV, plenty of supplies, and I have been to Bonnaroo before so I'm not worried about anything. However, no one I know is going and it would be cool to meet some people from the Austin area. You can never have too many friends.
My current plan is to drive up there on Wednesday and stay the night at the Motel 6 in Murfreesboro, then head into the fest Thursday morning, but I'm flexible.
I gave some people rides last year, but sorry, I can't do that this year. After Bonnaroo, I'm on a tight schedule to get to Ibiza, Spain, for some more music.

As it turns out, I might not have the use of the company truck so I'm looking for other options to get to Manchester this year. I'm currently in Galveston and have lived here only six weeks so I don't know anyone here and would love to join a carpool. Of course, I'm willing to split gas expenses and do my fair share of the driving.
It's my third Roo and possibly my last ever so I want to make this one count. I might be able to get a lift to Houston. Is there anyone out there that can help? I thought I had this trip locked up but things have changed.
I know its a long shot, but is anyone else going to see The Melvins at Emo's tomorrow night? If so let me know, we can have a beer and maybe meet up again on the farm next Saturday around 5pm and see them again.
We have room for one leaving from Houston Wednesday night and coming back on Monday morning. Right now its me, my brother and a friend. We are looking for someone else to split gas with.
