Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'm obviously out of the Roo loop now, but who the hell are all of these Thursday acts? Is there anyone on there who has any smidgeon of hype or a decent catalog of music?
Also, I feel like the Bon Iver advertising is a bit of a false billing. It looks like they just took his time slot and split it in half. Why not just let him play for the full two hours in one go instead of having to give an intermission to Eminem? Unless there's some sort of stage change that will happen.....
Justin Vernon uses a lot of different stage production for different types of shows, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a setup change. Also, my understanding is they’ll be two distinctly separate sets in the material that’s played. My only wish is that they had spread them out on separate days, were that possible. But honestly, all things considered, I’m not complaining.

This Bon Iver setup is the best timeline personally. If you don’t want to see Eminem stink it up on the main stage you get 2:15 of Bon Iver (all after dark) in what will likely be a very special shows.

Besides the headliner times being dogshit on the schedule, I'd make some good days out of Friday-Sunday. There's 1 act I know on Thursday, and it's at the start of the day so I'd just wander. But my theoretical Bonnaroo 2018 schedule would be:
Sunday: Broken Social Scene > Jungle > St. Paul > Grand Ole Opery > the Killers
For the Saturday night I would be leaving Anderson and Eminem 15-20 minutes early for Bon Iver spots.
Honestly, if I knew the schedule would shake out the way it did, I would have made more of an effort to go. Much more again if there was a different #1 than Eminem. Truly sad to miss out on Roo 2 years in a row, so hopefully they have a more appealing lineup next year!
SUN Amadou & Mariam > Jungle/Go Go Penguin > St. Paul & the Broken Bones > Daniel Caesar > Future/The Texas Gentlemen > Thundercat/Grand Ole Opry > GTFO

I have the idea of Sheryl Crow or Trombone Shorty being one of the worst conflicts of the fest for me. There are at least 3 more conflicts but overall not too bad.
I expect Chic to be PACKED. Bassnectar on the Which Stage sucks (after rumors of FINALLY being on What had been floating around). I think Justin Jay very well may play 2 more sets at Kalliope and seem to be everywhere this year at Roo.
I also expect Eminem to play at least 90 minutes. Muse will do the same also imo.
People were gonna complain no matter what the schedule looked like (especially those who weren't going).

Are you guys not understanding that whether it’s the Killers this year or Daft Fuckin Punk next year, they have decided on 60-75 min sets for EVERYONE. It’s unbelievable how fucked this festival has chosen to become. It’s not just the headliners either. Grrr. The camping is the only reason I would go again.

Idk man.
I know people here are gonna goof on me for saying this, but maybe they're giving shorter times on the schedule and letting those acts play longer if they want.
Scheduling Billy Joel and Tame Impala for these ambitious, extra-long set times only led to poor expectation management and a lot of pissed-off Rooers.

It's not like 75 minute headliner set times were a thing until this year. So there's not a recent history of it or anything.
Eminem, The Killers, and Muse don't really play longer than 90 minutes. I still feel like they should all be scheduled 15-20 minutes longer than they currently are, but that's mostly nitpicking. I was more outraged at U2 originally only getting 90 minutes last year.

Ya I’m sure it’s just a coincidence. 2-3 hours next year for sure👍🏽

Contract should say: This is bonnaroo bitch, headliners are paid for 2.5 hours, or piss off.

I'd rather not have artists scheduled for longer than what they actually play. If it's Radiohead, Pearl Jam, or something like that, then yeah give them 2 hours plus. But I don't need a two hour set from The Killers.

Well that 75 min Radiohead set in the future will be neat. Gotta love LN

I agree that comparing the Killers and Radiohead is a good idea.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
Honestly, I feel like the main concern moving forward should be the quality of headliners in the first place, not whether they get blocked out an appropriate amount of time.

I thought we like short sets so we can see a lot of acts? Thats what I learned from the Coachella thread.
Headliners get 2 hours if they so please at Coachella. Beyonce played almost that long this year.
Tbh, I still doubt that headliners are gonna get cut off at Roo. I’m assuming the listed time is just how much they’ve been booked/paid for. If they *want* to play longer, despite not being paid for it, they probably can.
With U2 last year, for instance, I’d guess that Roo was able to shell out more money come fest time; and that’s why they extended their official set time. But they probably could have played that long if they wanted to regardless. Obviously idk for sure tho.

I'm just confused why they would give Eminem a 70 minute set time just to quickly increase it to 100 minutes? That's a big leap. I'm going to be even more disappointed if Muse's set time doesn't increase now.
Edit: I'm thinking they will, because with these changes there is now no break between Eminem and Bon Iver, while there is still a 15 minute break between Muse and Bassnectar.
