Th: Lissie is the only artist I have heard of Fr: Westside Gunn & Conway -> Alex Lahey -> (definitely not ARIZONA wtf) -> Trombone Shorty -> Denzel Curry -> Paramore -> (dinner) -> Sturgill -> Rufus du Sol -> (Muse, I guess?) -> Superjam Sa: The War and Treaty -> Pond -> Billie Eilish -> LANY -> (Mavis Staples or Kali Uchis augh this sucks) -> CHIC -> Sylvan Esso -> Anderson Paak -> The Glitch Mob -> (LN Bon Iver, I guess?) -> (Brockhampton, I guess?) Su: Hundred Handed -> Mikky Ekko -> Ikebe Shakedown (this seems like it could be the sleeper set of Sunday) -> Broken Social Scene -> Jungle -> Daniel Caesar -> Future -> Thundercat -> (The Killers, or maybe hit the road early?)
Love this schedule. Tentative gameplan (Top 10 Acts in Bold):
Thursday: Actually kinda excited to explore some stuff in the grounds throughout the morning/afternoon, and then ... Ron Gallo -> Jalen N'Gonda -> Justin Jay -> Clozee -> Durand Jones -> Topaz Jones -> PPPP -> Tonalism
Saturday: Lewis Capaldi *or* Saro *or* Reggie Watts (game time decision if I get to centeroo in time) -> Pond -> (maybe) Jessie Reyez -> CHIC (pit) -> Anderson .Paak (try for pit) -> Bon Iver -> Bon Iver (try for pit) -> BROCKHAMPTON -> House of YES
Sunday: (Chill lol) -> Broken Social Scene (pit) -> GoGo Penguin -> Daniel Caesar -> Opry *or* Thundercat -> The Killers
Saturday is obviously a monster day with 5 sets in a row being among my top anticipated shows, but Friday might actually be more jam packed from beginning to end (with the exception of a gap during Nectar) Kinda bummed that I'll be missing parts of RUFUS and Virtual Self, but I'm sure I'll still have a blast. Thursday will be a solid warm-up, and Sunday will be a great cool down. This is honestly looking like it's gonna be my favorite Roo since 2015.

lol a TON of people on FB complaining about the schedule, especially about the headliner slots.
As they should be. If I'd shelled out that money for a ticket I'd be pretty disappointed
I mean, if people weren't excited about the headliners in the first place, I don't think it makes a whole lot of sense to be upset about them playing for less time. Muse is pretty much the only one that I wish was playing for longer, and that's largely because I have a gap in time until the superjam otherwise. I guess I just fail to see how the schedule at all makes the line-up worse. In my book, they've spread out things extremely well.
edit: I'll add that the mass bulk of people complaining appear to have not been planning to go the fest anyway. There are tons of comments along the lines of "If I was going, I'd be pissed!" - by contrast, people who have been planning on going (and even people who had just been considering it to this point) seem generally pleased with it. Maybe it's just a psychological mechanism forcing people to view it as a good schedule since they've already invested money in it, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me in general that people feel the need to complain about a schedule for a festival that they had no intentions of attending in the first place.

Well there's no way I'd pay the cost of a Bonnaroo ticket for those headliners, so I assume a good amount of the people who did spend that money do want to see those headliners and now aren't getting full sets from any of them. I was disappointed in 2014 when Jack's set was cut from 2 hours to 90 minutes (then very excited when he ended up playing over 2 hours anyways)

I think this is a poor assumption. Especially if you stretched that sentiment to say that the headliners are the main reason why most people would pay to go to this Bonnaroo.

It's definitely an over-generalization, but I think it's fair to think you're not getting your money's worth whether the headliners are your main draw or you're only casually interested in checking out Muse's set. This is one of the only big multi-genre fests with no curfew, but I could catch The Killers play a longer show at any arena if I wanted to.
Like I said in the lineup thread, I think this shows that Bonnaroo is fully aware they booked throwaway headliners this year

Yeahhhh, I think this is supported by the fact that the people who indeed shelled out the money for Roo aren't really the ones that are complaining.
I think that lineup release time is open season for complaints. At that point, many people are at least considering Roo. Even if they're expecting the worst, there's still likely some hope that the lineup will be good enough to draw them back to the farm. So, for that reason, I understand why a less than ideal lineup can stir some frustration.
But if you've written off a fest anyway, there's no use in complaining over the schedule. It seems like Roo did a genuinely good job of creating a schedule that those who liked the lineup in the first place would enjoy.

I wouldn't necessarily go this far. Is saving a few extra bucks in their new formula? Without a doubt.
The scheduling reminds me more and more of a basic city fest like ACL. Fill in the gaps with whatever touring acts are available without diligent curation. They gave Killers 1:45 and RHCP 1:50 though. Jay-Z 1:30. Extended headliner sets have never really been an issue with me though. I'd prefer to maximize the amount of bands I can see in a day instead. This is why Coachella's short scheduling always appealed to me.

Thursday: Ron Gallo > eat and wander > Clozee > Spafford > Space Jesus > PPPP > end of Opiuo > House of Yes
Friday: Everything Everything > Japanese Breakfast > Amish Donuts > Sheryl Crow > Denzel Curry > Paramore > T-Pain > go to bathrooms/get food > go into Muse Pit line and watch SS > Muse > cry about what Muse songs I didn’t get to hear live > Bassnectar > SuperJam > end of Virtual Self > anything else going on, maybe check out tonolism
Saturday: Pond > maybe Billie Ellish? Or food and wander > Boogie T > maybe Mavis > Chic > Sylvan Esso > food/bathrooms/go into Eminem pit line and watch Anderson Paak > Eminem > part of Bon Iver > beginning of STS9 > BROCKHAMPTON > anything latenight if I’m still alive
Sunday: NMS > Rich Chigga > rest of Sir Sly > rest of Broken Social Scene > Jungle > maybe pit for Moon Taxi > pit for AltJ > The Killers
These set lengths are laughably bad. While I was quite likely not attendin’ this year I am now certainly not gonna make it. Hope those that are goin’ have a great time, but the golden days are long since gone. I think I saw two sets with a 90 minute length.
What in the actual fuck is LN doin’ to this former gem of a fest?
The short headliner sets are a bummer, but that won't affect my last minute decision. My two biggest gripes are, OCMS v. Sylvan Esso, and I wish Brockhampton started fifteen minutes later.

Either way I have to suffer a shorter amount of time of bad unopposed headliners. Works for me. And I think it works for a lot of people are pumped about the Bon Iver sets and don't care about the Killers. Most everyone I have seen admits that the Muse set time sucks.
I'm obviously out of the Roo loop now, but who the hell are all of these Thursday acts? Is there anyone on there who has any smidgeon of hype or a decent catalog of music?
Also, I feel like the Bon Iver advertising is a bit of a false billing. It looks like they just took his time slot and split it in half. Why not just let him play for the full two hours in one go instead of having to give an intermission to Eminem? Unless there's some sort of stage change that will happen.....
