That Saturday is very possible for me tbh. How is this festival run? Typical city fest?
Long lines to get in (depending on arrival) that go down streets/bridges a little while. As others pointed out two main stages are side by side so no overlap. Then the blue stage off in its own football field/mini-stadium type thing (not sure if anyone gets bleachers or only VIP). Small indoor stage that has comedy and variety. Main vendors on either side of the main stages and some others located by the blue stage.
It's pretty good. Easy to get to anywhere, depending on how close you want to get.
Saturday is so stacked for me, definitely worried about conflicts though, so I'll wait for the schedule and probably buy day of show for half face. Only thing I'd be missing is black star.

2017 was godawful with extremely long wait times, massive bottlenecks leaving the red stage, and bathroom andfood vendor lines being way too long. However they fixed all of these issues in the 2018 edition. 2018 went incredibly smoothly and at no point did I have to wait longer than 5 minutes for food or more than like 2 minutes for the bathroom. If it rains, the grounds near the red and green stages do get incredibly muddy so keep that in mind. The blue stage is on turf so it remains unaffected.

having slightly more hope that on Saturday it'll go
Green: Anderson .Paak > Tame Impala Red: Big Red Machine > Odesza Blue: King Princess > Hozier
Given that last year Fleet Foxes was 4th on their day and they closed blue despite that on every other day, the 3rd closed blue. the most likely day of that happenening seems to be saturday because it'd make zero sense for Lord Huron and Sheck Wes to close blue. Given the fanbases of the headliners having a ton of overlap

I really hope you're right... if i have to miss any of Paak/Odesza/Tame then I'm going to be pretty bummed. Fingers crossed.

Not to over-post, but now that I'm locked in, anyone have any recommendations for areas in which to look for an AirBnB for my wife and I?
Looking for best combo of...
- Access to and from the festival - Shit to do (bars/restaurants) - Relative safety, enough so that two moderately street-smart adults who might be coming home late at night in an elevated mental state would be OK.

Davis Square in Somerville or Central Square in Cambridge. Both are on the red line that takes you to Harvard Square, from where you can walk to the festival.

Don't worry about over-posting, I do it constantly in this thread!!
In addition to the aforementioned North of the Charles Red Line stops, there's Kendall, Porter, and Alewife, too. Stying in walking distance of any of those five stations will get you to Harvard Sq quickly.
There are also some areas not immediately on the Red Line, but with frequent bus service to Harvard Square. Inman Square in East Cambridge has plenty of great casual dining choices, and anything on the frequently running 77 bus line through North Cambridge and Arlington will give you easy access to Harvard Square. You could even bus it in from Watertown easily enough, although the dining and drinking options won't be as good there.
I actually prefer the dining choices in Kendall, Inman, and Davis to Harvard Square, and you'll find bars everywhere in those areas.

Yeah I never cared for the dining options in Harvard Square either.
And if you do stay in Inman Square, Punjabi Dhaba is a must visit for food.

so apparantly ive been a high ass idiot for the past week and didnt see the single day dropped. any one of paak odesza or janelle on tame day would of made me pull the trigger, but Mitski, Big Red, Deznel Curry just is just the cherry on top. so glad i was able to buy my ticket right before the price change tn. Its gonna be my first time in Boston and i really cant wait to wear my Nick Foles jersey around the city at some point.

^THIS. And, hopefully Mitski magically plays any time before Big Red Machine.
Tame Impala, Odesza, Anderson .Paak and Big Red Machine are my top 4 most anticipated for this festival so I'm hoping I can see them all. It just makes a lot more sense to put Hozier up against Odezsa than to put .Paak against Odesza.
Haha, it's awesome that he'll be playing stuff from Documentary, Now! Such a funny show and really goes to lengths to mimic the look/style of the documentaries he's parodying.
with each new lineup release this looks better and better
its my second favorite festival of the year and im pretty excited to go. Im planning on waiting to buy a bit because of all the talk about how stubhub prices drop close to festival. For those that live in New England, is this festival picking up word of mouth hype?

Same, at least its my 2nd fav u.s. festival so far. I havent heard a ton. However a bunch of my friends who never really go to concerts or festivals are pretty interested in saturday and sunday if that means anything. Also a few of my coworkers are going all 3 days. In terms of general buzz like overhearing people talking about it tho ive heard nothing. Eminem last year turned a lot of heads though.
edit: confident friday will sell out or come close, i see TONS of people with TØP merch and their td garden show sold out in minutes

The only hype i've heard is about Black Star. People I've talked to generally agree with me that this is the worst lineup of the new site by far, and it's led to them not buying tickets. They were even more disappointed when the daily splits left no single day enticing enough for a day pass... I've gone with a crew of anywhere between 8-12 people each day for the last several years, but this year it's looking like it's only going to be 4 or 5 of us that do the full weekend, with maybe one or two people jumping in for a single day. I still think it will sell well, it will just skew younger and i have no clue what the word of mouth hype is like within that demographic.

thanks for the info. Will continue to wait
Yeah, I should say, I'm 20 and my friends who wanna go are in the 20-22 range and coworkers who wanna go are in the 21-25 range so it definitely seems like theres more appeal to my age group

Please do wear that jersey. Pats fans are shameless apologists for all of the baggage the Pats left at the "gates," and they'd rather have another ring which couldn't possibly mean as much to them as fans of teams which have never won a ring or haven't won one in decades. Pats fans never stop to think about the sick kids and seniors in other cities who died without ever seeing their team win it all. Quack the Pats and their obnoxious fans.
This sounds great. I sure wish it wasn't part of Boston Calling and was simply it's own show at Berklee or The Wilbur.
This is bound to be an abbreviated version of the regular headlining show and also likely to conflict with Black Star, judging from the poster. Also, you've generally got to miss more than one musical act if you want to catch the comedy headliner, since you've got to get there an act or two before to ensure entry.
