I feel like Aerosmith will be the #1 billed. They fit the same deal as Tool and Eminem.(massive artist who havent played boston in years, and it's their home city) Plus it's the top voted comment on the facebook post they made a week ago asking for requests. They also have a break from late april to late june from the vegas residency to play.
If they can get the best and brightest at MIT to put some time travel technology in place and bring mid-70's Aerosmith to 2019, sure.
If anybody wants a free ticket to the sold out Car Seat Headrest show at the Royale Thursday night, message me. You'll need to come to Arlington, MA to pick up the ticket.
Just saw Childish Gambino in a 9th row seat at a packed td garden tonight. He's breathtaking live. I know this is his last Gambino tour but I really hope he still does a festival run next year. He'd be a perfect return headliner.
Kids See Ghosts | The Cure | Florence + the Machine Post Malone | SZA | Disclosure Flume | A$AP Rocky | Death Cab for Cutie
Post Malone as much as it kills me to say would def be a headliner here. If cap is 30k or whatever, he sold out in Mansfield *twice* this year and unless he all of a sudden drops off the face of the earth between now and BC, he'll def still be headliner status.
..that being said SZA would be great since she couldn't do the Championship Tour in Mansfield this year, and I could see death cab.
Pretty sure Disclosure has said they have no plans for live shows at this time lol

What you said about Posty is completely true and I really hope he doesn't play now lmao. Unless someone really good plays against him. and yeah i realized that Disclosure is prob a no go for that reason. still think Flume is pretty likely, or maybe even Justice. I definitely want SZA there, was super dissappointed she missed the championship tour(granted that tour was underwhelming in itself).
Maybe it's that I just don't "get" The Cure, or that I'm too young, but the idea of them headlining makes my brain hurt. There's no way they are big enough. They played Agganis when they were in town 2 years ago, so I think they'd be in the QOTSA/National time slot. Also, the article I saw said most of their "20 festivals next year" would be in Europe, so I'm not penciling them in for BC just yet.

They were #2 at ACL in 2013 and #1 at Lolla. A lot of their appeal (excluding their great discography) has to do with their highly respected live shows. You should not be worried at all if The Cure if your #2 or even #1.
Edit: Roberts tweet said mostly in Europe which opened up the door for this

This years top 3 was Eminem, Killers, and Jack White let’s not get too ahead here lol.
Drake - The Cure - Muse
I think Muse will do their US headline tour first before jumping into a fest circuit, they are due to announce their world tour for 2019 within the next month or so.

Boston Calling makes sense for The Cure since there's no big European festival that could steal them away during that weekend.

Yeah it's either this, Coachella, or ACL imo. Unless SK wants to bust out the big bucks.

Reading some of these sentences makes my brain hurt.

The only reason they wouldn't headline is if they don't want to. The Cure aren't taking anything but a headlining gig.
My logic: Like you said, most of the festivals they're playing will be in Europe. Which probably means about 4-5 U.S. fests. I think the biggest fests here are going to be a bit more hesitant to book The Cure because of the demographics they're forced to cater to by nature of bringing in 50k+ attendees. And if they were booked they likely wouldn't be the marquee booking they'd hope. Which means it's probably more likely they aim for 2nd tier fests, with maybe one big one. Europe's festival season is largely stuffed into June and July, so if they're there those months that leaves a pretty limited selection of available U.S. fests, of which BC feels like a relatively prime candidate. When you factor in that BC has a history of booking 80s/90s alt rock bands in a way that most other fests of their size don't (Tool, Pixies, Beck, The Replacements, Built to Spill, etc.) you have to imagine the interest would definitely be there on their end.
Still not saying it's a sure thing by any means, but I think it's more likely they play BC than a good portion of other U.S. festivals. It'd make sense if they did 2 or 3 in May, go to Europe, then come back for another 1 or 2 here (a return to Lolla, ACL, or Voodoo being the most likely)

I'd be down for that
If we had a headliner better than Drake, that'd be nice. Can live with Drake though.
Only reason I'm pretty optimistic about KSG or some form of Kanye headlining is because he's never played Boston Calling before and hasn't been to boston in general in a long time. The last two #1s are artists who haven't played boston in quite a while. Since Drake just played 3 shows at the garden, that leads me to believe he won't be returning. At least not as the #1.

I really hope so because I don't like Muse at all LMAO. Also I think we can count on a female headliner because of the backlash of the headliners last year all being white dudes.
