Also, this lineup is pretty terrible for my tastes. Saturday would be a fun day, though. Being able to see Death Cab, Brockhampton, Young the Giant, Dashboard, Andrew McMahon, Snail Mail and Little Simz would be pretty sweet. I feel bad for Hop Along being on Sunday. They are literally the only thing appealing to me on that day.
i figured Post would play but i had hope that they would have the decency to put him at four or five.
Panic headlining? that can not be forgiven.
Hot take but panic at the disco is basically a legacy rock act for millennials at this point.
Please do not give millenials a bad name like that. The only people attending Panic! shows any more are tweens being driven to the venue by their parents. I'm a millenial, and even when that shit was popular in the mid 00's only the worst people were into it.

I'm not sure how AEG and Goldenvoice are structured. But this is a pretty wimpy ass lineup. That's 2 out of 3 panda lineups so far for AEG 2019. (Buku's is fairly decent though it's a way smaller fest than both - I think WCP still helps book that).
In if I was a teacher terms, Hangout's lineup is an F, Firefly is a D-, Buku is probably a B/B- so far with more to add. Coachella should be a mixed bag as usual. There will be wimp pop and music appealing to really young Coachella goers and pop fans along with all the other stuff they bring year after year that makes them great, and I'll watch a bunch of it on television.
Looking at Firefly specifically, I really would be bored out of my skull on Saturday or Sunday. Maybe there's a diamond in the rough in one of the bottom 3 lines or something, as Rubblebucket is the only name I know. Ignoring that, I'd see GRiZ and Gucci Mane on Sunday, maybe $uicideboy$ on Saturday (I don't know jpegmafia). Friday is pretty weak too, but I do like Tyler, Bob Moses, TLC, Soja, UMO, Ekali, Caamp and The Record Company. That's not a great day for me, but if I was within walking distance, I'd probably hit it.
I’m most surprised by the amount of people who said they went to this every year. It has been pretty bad since 2015. Even with Paul and Morrissey on the lineup, I was in the upper age bracket there that year at 25. I’m not surprised they finally went full kids bop on you tricks.
I can't speak for anybody else, but the main reason I went back every year is because the fest is about an hour away and it was an easy way to get a large group of my friends together for a weekend to hangout, which is very rare nowadays. The fest has def been declining the last couple years but this is the year that officially ended it for my group of friends and Firefly.
The last couple years we had 15-20 Car camping spots in North Camping. This year, whoever is still going will probably be maybe 2 RVs total. I think it's just time to admit to myself that I'm an old man getting aged out of basic fests and I need to go to Coachella from now on.
Last year I went basically just to see my group, I may end doing the same this year. It's just so hard... so hard to justify the cost. I still can't get over who they think is paying for VIP. That's literally where all the old people like me (I'm old now at 31 for this) pay to be lazy fucks all day and buy expensive drinks. The bros ain't paying for that. That has to be a huge potential money loss. Perhaps they make up that loss by not having to pay for a Thursday lineup and not booking any real headliners.

Why wouldn’t the bros pay for that? There’s certainly older bros (late 20s and up) with expendable cash.

is the possible increase of ticket sales to younger people going to outweigh the lost revenue from older folk who tend to buy VIP and more likely to spend money on drinks, food, and merch inside the fest?

Firefly was my first festival and I’ll always remember how it made me fall in love with the scene. Every time I look at the lineup it just makes me sad.
Bros by definition are young dumb college aged kids who only care about drinking and getting laid. How many 40 year old bros do you know? Those words contradict each other, which is an oxymoron.. I see you aced English in school.

I've been to Jersey and NY many times, I'm from DE, and while there are those douch*y aging Jersey Shore Bros out there, they constitute a very small contingent of Bros overall.. and I guarantee those Old Bros won't show their face at Firefly this year. Once you have a career and family it's pretty hard to bro out.

There are definitely “old” bros that exist, mostly in New Jersey and New York. Being in Firefly VIP the past four years I’m usually about the youngest. Generally the youngest crowd is mid 20’s, but the majority is 30+ If not 40+. If Firefly somehow managed to convince the New Jersey/New York bros to travel for this more power to them. I’m just not sure people my age+ are paying $700-$3000 (super vip) to see this lineup. Maybe I’m wrong. What do I know. I guess people pay VIP for hangout right? I have no idea what that crowd looks like though.
