Bros by definition are young dumb college aged kids who only care about drinking and getting laid. How many 40 year old bros do you know? Those words contradict each other, which is an oxymoron.. I see you aced English in school.
I think if you're an old bro you're probably stuck listening to the bro music that was popular back when you were in your bro glory days, not Travis Scott and Post Malone. Old Bros tend to listen to butt rock and dated hip hop like Eminem and Dre.
03/14 - Thievery Corporation 04/25 - Black Country, New Road 05/04 - In Flames, Gatecreeper 05/10 - Modern Life is War 05/21 - Spite, Bodysnatcher, Thrown 05/29 - Knocked Loose, Loathe, Show me the Body, Speed 06/02 - Bush 06/22 - George Thorogood 06/23 - Dillinger Escape Plan, Deadguy, Candy, Carbomb

I know you didn’t post the lovefool video, but that’s a timeless song anyway, classic vocal melody. Shoegaze, trip hop, grunge, classic hip hop, the invention of gangsta rap, Rage Against the Machine.. I mean, do I need to go on? Also some of the most brilliant EDM artists ever e.g. Aphex Twin, Mr. Oizo, The Prodigy, etc.
Dude, for the last time you fucking knave, grunge and butt rock are not the same. I seriously think you have a learning disability. I am not a bro at all for saying the 90's was a good time for music.

I've been away on business and just soaking this lineup in. Couple of thoughts...
1. I don't like the headliners at all but I'm now 5 years out of college graduation so I need to understand that this lineup isn't meant for me anymore. I think if you go by streaming numbers (sad i know) this top 6 blows past years out of the water. Different times for sure, but I hope the 18-24 group has fun like I did at Firefly when I was that age. I have a wedding FF weekend this year anyways so part of me was terrified and is now relieved this wasn't the year they'd pull Pearl Jam or Bruce.
2. I gave up on the idea a few years ago that acts like The National, Bon Iver, The War on Drugs, Sufjan or Ryan Adams would work at Firefly. It's just not the mood or the scene. From my perspective, Arctic Monkey's change of pace set last year was a disaster. Not because it was bad, it was really good, but the crowd was just checked out completely. That being said, I'm happy acts like Courtney Barnett, Snail Mail and Vampire still get booked. Plenty of people with good music taste still go to FF just to party and reuinite with their friends so it's good they get some nice sets.
3. Bands on the second line like AWOL, Walk the Moon (guilty pleasure), Young the Giant, and X Ambassadors are incredibly lazy and insulting. If FF wants to go younger that is fine, but then book acts with upward momentum like The 1975, Greta Van Fleet, and Haim, or go full nostalgia. I don't know what bringing back the dying mediocre acts of the early party of this decade accomplishes.
4. With The Strokes, LCD, YYY's, Interpol, Dandy Warhols, TVotR, Ryan Adams, Jack White all active again and Firefly's love of rock nostalgia I had some hopes for a strong Meet Me in the Bathroom era presence. But it appears that they've moved right on to the Emo era with Dashboard, Andrew McMahon, Panic, and Death Cab. I think college age kids simply do not care about that era.
5. If AEG is shuttering Panorama and turning Firefly into Hangout North, then I have to think that they have something up there sleeve as far as building a well curated Northeast Festival.
6. People owe The Killers and Mumford a bit of an apology. It's not easy to anchor rock headliners at mainstream festivals for years. When they don't show up here, you get the 2017 and 2019 headlining groups. Send them a nice note.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
Off topic, but does anyone have an idea where the new Virgin Fest could be held? My guess is D.C.
I'm honestly hoping for D.C. at Merriweather. I loved Kerfuffle, Sweet Life, and Virgin Fest held there... but on second thought, I also think they would cater to the area as well... and if you have been to any recent "fest" in the area (Moonrise, All Things Go, Kerfuffle, SweetLife before it closed, even Shamrock Fest still) its PACKED with kids. I could definitely see VirginFest getting Post Malone/this type of lineup too.
I'm holding out though. While I am in the minority for finding enjoyment from this lineup and that I still have a hell of a time at Firefly, I still want the opportunity to see the acts that everyone else wants. Give me some Cage, Empire of the Sun, Portugal. The Man, Tame Impala and the likes at VirginFest/Kerfuffle at MPP.
I’m actually relieved so many people on social media are upset. At least there are still ppl out there that appreciate better music.
think you are misunderstanding the anger. Talked to some people last night that are not into the same type of music that I am and they said "Post and Travis are great, but outside of that its pretty weak. 2017 was way better with Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Martin Garrix on Saturday." these girls were most mad at losing that Thursday to party and drink at the campsite

To be fair I'm also upset about losing Thursday to drink and party at the campsite. I guess I'm >0% bro. Kind of ironic then, Firefly tried to cater more towards the young crowd and ended up just pissing everyone off.
Edit- I really mean losing Wednesday in this case.

Losing Wednesday is my biggest loss with the move to a three day fest. Setting up Camp ~6-7pm and the only care in the world at that point is drinking and getting to see a random "upcoming" edm and alt indie band play is pretty damn exciting.

camping prices are insane. north camping is starting at 210 plus fees, south camping starting at 180 plus fees. figure fees are $25. That's stupid expensive for a shitty grass parking lot camping spot.
