camping prices are insane. north camping is starting at 210 plus fees, south camping starting at 180 plus fees. figure fees are $25. That's stupid expensive for a shitty grass parking lot camping spot.
Seems like its the same as the past couple of years.
Off topic, but does anyone have an idea where the new Virgin Fest could be held? My guess is D.C.
I'm honestly hoping for D.C. at Merriweather. I loved Kerfuffle, Sweet Life, and Virgin Fest held there... but on second thought, I also think they would cater to the area as well... and if you have been to any recent "fest" in the area (Moonrise, All Things Go, Kerfuffle, SweetLife before it closed, even Shamrock Fest still) its PACKED with kids. I could definitely see VirginFest getting Post Malone/this type of lineup too.
I'm holding out though. While I am in the minority for finding enjoyment from this lineup and that I still have a hell of a time at Firefly, I still want the opportunity to see the acts that everyone else wants. Give me some Cage, Empire of the Sun, Portugal. The Man, Tame Impala and the likes at VirginFest/Kerfuffle at MPP.
I can’t see Virgin Fest in Boston (BC), Philly (Made in America), or NYC (Gov Ball/Meadows). D.C. seems like the best logical choice.
Jason Felts (Virgin Produced CEO) said this, “It starts with your venue. Having a festival out in the middle of a field with dust and mud is something we’re steering away from,” Felts says in a possible reference to Coachella’s Empire Polo Grounds. “We’ll be announcing our first venue, which is world-class, with appropriate facilities versus just sort of putting up stages in the middle of a field.” To me, that screams like Merriweather. Live Nation amphitheaters ain’t exactly first class.
Got any ideas for who could headline Kerfuffle? I wasn’t a fan of FOB last year, but I’m optimistic for this year. I could definitely see Florence or TØP doing this. I can’t see Panic or VW doing it because of FF.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol

That sounds like great logic to me. I am all for another festival in this area. We've been lacking good festivals in D.C. All Things Go had potential but location wise was terrible. Then it got worse each year. Trillectro is terrible. SweetLife started out strong and then did the Firefly and catered to the youth. Kerfuffle has been great but last year was meh.
I'd be all for Florence or Cage the Elephant. Could you see Tool playing a show like this? lol
You'd have to think a Sir Sly or Lovelytheband would have to be on that lineup because they play them all the time. At that rate, I'd love to see PTM here. Honestly, Kerfuffle is normally pretty good at booking! I always loved Kerfuffle and Chili Cook Off.

I would expect this fest to be like the V Fest in England, and anything better than that is a bonus

That Virgin Fest announcement was filled with so much bullshit I wouldn’t be surprised if all that “world class venue” nonsense just turned out to be Pimlico.

Did anyone go to the Laurel concert hosted by echostage? I love laurel because its getting nicer and they might be getting a sportsbook.

It's no longer just camping in a grass area next an Applebees and a Casino....it's the Great Atlantic Campout.

In other words, who care about the lineup it’s the party weekend of the year!

Yea from like the third line down or so it’s actually ok. Not great but much better than some previous years. It’s almost like they took their time with that, and then ran out time and was “Just call every act we’ve ever booked before and go with them”.
Still not liking that Post Malone position but the lineup is growing on me.
I have to say, I would've agreed with all the hate against Post headlining like six months ago, but at this point I think he deserves it. I had a chance to check out his set at Coachella (which I thought was terrible, wrote the guy off), Gov Ball (was actually impressed), and then Lolla (where I thought he killed it). Caught him on the Camp Flog Gnaw live stream and it really looked like a headlining performance to me. The amount he has improved as a live performer over the past year has been incredible and he will have a new album out before Firefly.
Not to mention, from the other perspective, the crowds he's been drawing. Ex, at lolla:
With the crowd sizes, the fact that he's selling out arenas at high price points, the incredible resale market on his last tour it's pretty hard to argue that he shouldn't be a headliner if he plays; and with the quality of his recent performances and the album dropping, I actually think it's a relatively good call.
Fuck Post Malone. It's actually not surprising to me that he's headlining, It's the fact that he's headlining with two other lame headliners. If there were two decent headliners plus one of the 3 firefly got then I think there would be less backlash. I don't even like Travis or Post, but the worst headliner of the 3 is still panic at the disco.
Someone else posted about this but Panic! really only plays one song from I write sins not tragedies in their current setlist? They are selling out arenas on their new albums? What on earth is going on there

its a firefly tradition to get tired headliners at the end of their touring/album cycles. I guess AM were the first HL where you had a chance to see an all new show. And I guess Em too.

Yeah thier summer tour last year sold out most dates at 20K places, their upcoming winter tour is near sold out too and that leg takes place in secondary markets.

Yep, their current set has 15 or their 22 songs coming from their 2 most recent albums.

Yea this was the real problem. They tried to get cute and cheap with Panic! at the Disco and simply got caught. If they had booked an established rock headliner, even a recycled one like Florence and the Machine the reaction wouldn’t have been as bad.

are we sure it was cheaper?
Perhaps I’m being naive, I can’t imagine they cost as much. Even so they took away an entire day off the budget.

Sunday is overwhelmingly the best day IMO. Vampire Weekend the best top line name, I think Post Malone is the only headliner I'd actually see too for that matter. Griz, AJR, Car Seat Headrest. I'm sure there will be some ridiculous schedule conflict between all of them. Probably Vampire Weekend, Griz, and CSH all playing at the same time.
