I was hoping it meant they were going to play Kerfuffle, or that the Virgin Fest was going to be here, with VW on the lineup.
Im starting to think they are playing Wolf Trap. I have a coworker that knows the head of ticketing at Wolf Trap, might be able to get an answer there
Those are both good thoughts. I forgot about kerfuffle. Kerfuffle has been a Sunday anywhere from May-July in the past. They could conceivably play on Sunday May 19th for Kerfuffle if they play that Friday for Hangout.
Could Slushii be added to the lineup? Not that I really care, but he does not have a DC/MD/VA/DE date and he has a blurred out line the day after his Philadelphia date which would be Saturday at Firefly. I dunno, just an observation.
Also, I keep forgetting about Kerfuffle. Kerfuffle HAS had Panic! years back and I would love to see a VW there too. I'm hoping they start hinting towards a Kerfuffle lineup soon.

I remember seeing PATD at Kerfuffle, which was the only time I ever saw them. I remember after they were done thinking of how unmemorable it was and just sort of shrugging and saying to myself "Well I guess that's Panic! at the Disco.... NEXT please."
The thing with Kerfuffle is it's not really on any real designated date. So there's really no way to know when we should have any details on it. The Killers will definitely headline it sooner than later.
Thursday Night Pre-Party at BOTH hubs (stages are bigger and better)
Louis the Child Gryffin (dj set) Saint Motel Ripe Emo Nite *and many more*
Getting Gryffin and Saint Motel for a preparty thing has me happy
So wait are they all performing at both hubs? How TF will that work? Or are they splitting these artists up?
Louis the Child... lol funny story about them. At Forecastle last year me and a buddy were playing cornhole in the middle of the day at the festival with some random girls. Two dudes came up to us and asked to play and we basically ignored them being preoccupied with the ladies. Five minutes later someone told us they were the kids from Louis the Child

While 2019 headliners Panic! At the Disco, Travis Scott and Post Malone will have attendees’ attention in the evening, Firefly’s Great Atlantic Campout will keep fans entertained all day.
So basically they aren't going to bother with interesting daytime bookings going forward.

I like some of the undercard names too, but I'm gonna bet those will start at like 5-6pm.
Not so sure about that. Especially saturday, there are so many good undercard acts that some will have to be day time. Cant put all of Saba, Snail mail, Lets Eat Grandma, and Little Simz after 5-6PM

Mostly it just means that there will be things to do back in the campgrounds during the day besides binge drink. There is a surprisingly fair number of people who stay in the camping areas longer and go into the fest later on for pre-headliners, headliners and late night.

That's frankly the future of all these big non-city festivals; the same thing has happened as well in Europe (such as at Lowlands in The Netherlands). Where the whole weekend becomes about the experience. Which is fine, until it changes the type of attendee to the point that less and less go for the actual music. Hell, look at how Firefly was marketing "friends" last year as one of their selling points.

I think it’s smart of Firefly honestly. There are so many festival choices out there and the lineups have mostly become carbon copies of one another, you need to differentiate what you can offer. I don’t think this has any significant relation to the lineup.

Yeah, the experience is honestly the big picture that many festivals are going for now. Not all, but many. Obviously it's still about the music, but the overall experience has become a priority because there really are people these days who actually go to festivals not so much for "just" the music, but also because they just like being AT a music festival. They like the environment, the vibe, the culture, the food, the visuals, etc and ALSO the music. I know people who go to a festival and maybe only see a handful of artists all weekend, but still have a blast and don't do it by just getting wasted, etc. I TOTALLY agree that festivals should want a quality attendee, so hopefully by creating more structure, comfort and security in the campgrounds it will condition attendees to be more conscious and really take pride in the festival.

Firefly investing in their campground infrastructure is great, and more camping festivals should be doing that. But remember when we were all hoping for left-field acts such as those who formerly played at Panorama/FYF Fest to be booked at Firefly? That's even less likely to happen if the vast majority of people won't arrive on the festival grounds until 5-6pm.
I do hope to attend the Saturday of Firefly this year, so hopefully there will be a cheap way of doing so.

Can I continue to hope for stage/sound upgrades to go along with these?

I don't see why not. I mean there's always a list of things people ask for, give feedback on, request, etc and you can always provide that feedback. Based on what I've seen it doesn't seem very high on people's request list compared to other stuff or even compared to other festivals, but everyone is different.

Think I'm coming back to the Woodlands on Sunday this year. Vampire Weekend, Car Seat, Hop Along, Naked Giants are worth it alone, plus some people watching at Posty. Here's hoping its not hot as balls again, like Sunday usually is.

Sunday of Firefly 2019 is a deep of a day they have had in a while. Top to bottom I can't complain about that day. Not a fan of Post Malone but obviously understand his booking.
I like Big Wild, really any options that aren't the headliners are appreciated (I wonder what time they will play?). So is the "Beach Club" just the volleyball sand pit behind the north hub stage?

Think they are including the whole thing as the "Beach Club", stage included.
