Not the under 25 crowd...ever since he's moved closer to a techno sound and away from the big room house his popularity has declined. He still puts on a good show, but he doesnt do sets designed to please the casual festival attendee thats looking for a big dumb EDM party.
The only people that care about Deadmau5 are probably like me, over 30 and have listened to him for years. I doubt he is pulling in any new millennial EDM fans. His live show is great but doesn't really fit what most young kids expect from an EDM show.
I too would love to see Deadmau5 there but you're probably right, especially when trying to pull a large 18-24 crowd.
Just checked their Twitter. While their Instagram story reposted several lineup requests, they only liked 3 distinct ones on Twitter which consisted of
Bassnectar - ODESZA - Chance the Rapper - Flume - Grizmatik - Louis the Child - Whethan - Petit Biscuit - What So Not - Mura Masa - Alison Wonderland - Porter Robinson - Post Malone - Logic - J. Cole - Excision - Tipper - Space Jesus - Snails - Tash Sultana - Kayzo - A$AP Rocky - String Cheese Incident - Tame Impala - Shlump - G Jones - Rusko - Virtual Self - Herobust - Dubloadz
Probably means nothing since so many of these are repeats, some without new records out. It's also super EDM-heavy.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol

Won’t be surprised if a lot of these names do end up on the lineup, I just hope it doesn’t go too heavy on edm and maintains a nice balance. Doubt Okee gets tipper two years in a row but Tame SCI, Rusko, Tash and J. Cole would be nice. I could honestly go another year without seeing Flume unless he comes out with a new show and music. I feel like A$AP is very likely though, he just makes sense to me.
Florence is out. Some venues have confirmed that she’ll be in Europe during the fest.
Have you seen confirmed European dates anywhere? Just wondering if she'll be in Europe all March/April and out for Coachella too.
I can’t remember the exact dates, but I’ve seen some rumored to be in early March and some later in the month. I did see that AccorHotels Arena in Paris just announced a show for March 24th though.

So, Bassnectar just confirmed on IG that he's not doing Okee next year
Wild card!
Kinda bummed, but excited to see the opportunity to bring in someone cool and unexpected. It makes sense from a booking standpoint since he's at a ton of fests this year.

Starting to wonder if this is still happening. Media has been pretty quiet and and there is still no official date announcement from the fest itself. Do you think they're having a hard time due to Coachella/III Points/Ultra?

Probably. III Points > Okee > Ultra seems like way too many fests in Florida over three months, even with the relative differences in audience and booking strategies.

They could possibly skip this year? Seems like with Bassnectar not playing, they aren't on alot of folks radar. I would love to see what this fest books without Bassnectar though, so here's hoping they're back in 2019!!!

I think it’s a little too soon for an announcement, I’d give it another month or so. I know it’s the first festival of the season. But I’m 99% Okee will definitely still happen. I know 20 people that already plan to go, they are very active on their Instagram, and they been doing well for a fest(even though personally I think their lineup is steadily declining since the first). They even had a poll for what artists you want there in 2019.
Also I am at work typing this out and had to stop to check out a customer and they saw my Roo wristband and asked if I was going to Okee and I laughed and said I’m just now typing about Okee. The girl that checked out said she’s hoping for Tame Impala to play.

A friend of mine who worked for both iii points and Okee informed the iii points promo team he would not be returning to iii points this year to focus fully on Okeechobee . It’s happening, look for announcements in late September early October!

I was going to say that the other day. The guy I know who went from iii points to Okee was all of a sudden back at iii points. I wasn’t sure if it was a personal matter or a festival matter. Looks like something happened within the past two weeks or so.

If it's true that's really too bad. I enjoyed the year I went (2017) and it was great having a multi-genre camping festival on the East Coast in the spring.

Yup, its gone. Really unfortunate. It was such a unique festival that I wish I had attended. Location was beautiful. I think being so far away from any airports or major cities definitely hurt.

You don’t think they plan on bringing it back? I thought maybe with Nectar doing Deja Vu, the new EDM fest in south Florida, Ultra and iii Points all within a month of Okee maybe that hurt the booking and they would look to rebrand with new dates. It was always well attended and they obviously planned on doing it this year by getting permits, asking for requests etc. Think the problem is deeper then attendance

If it doesn’t come back I hope something will be brought about to replace it, there is definitely a void for what it provided. Would be tough to replace the uniqueness and beauty of the location though.
Are there any clear reasons at this point? It seemed like it sold well every year (even selling out?) and they had a pretty strong community. It was like a mini Bonnaroo for a lot of people.
