unrelated but has anyone tried trill burger?? with how much hype it’s gotten i’m expecting it to taste like Jesus cooked it.
Disclaimer that I've only had Trill Burgers at pop ups before they opened the brick and mortar but I've had it like 4-5 times from things like that (I stay decently involved in the local Houston food scene)
It's good! It's a good smash on the burger, very crispy and thin which is how I like smash burgers which is my favorite type of burger. I wouldn't say it's incredible, not sure they are using any special beef blend and sauce but the technique is right and it comes together like I like em. The theming is great though, I love the boxes they made for them to come in. I've been meaning to make it to the brick and mortar when lines die down
That being said, not the best smash burger I've ever had or even the best in Houston, but that's a solid one. My favorite in town is Burger Bodega pretty easily, although I have to admit a bias that I helped them out when they were doing popups but part of that was because of how much I loved that burger
Texas' largest outdoor country music festival arrives 5/10-12 to the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Conroe -- just outside of Houston. World class music talent will converge with all the best food and beverages the Great State of Texas has to offer. Stay tuned for the lineup and news at www.bigastexasfest.com
Missed where this was talked about, was just talking it in the shows thread.
Zach Bryan has no Houston date and no dates on May 11th or 12th, with Knoxville and Little Rock dates in between those. Seems like a solid bet for a first headliner
Zach announced a huge Houston show so he's out, no idea what they'll be booking for this. Starting to guess it'll go a lot more radio country route in which case I'd be out
Missed where eclipse fest announced first wave of lineup. I probably like it more than I will Bonnaroo if future phases deliver. Kind of like a modern Waka lineup. Damn.

lineup and ticket onsale for this tomorrow. I'm not expecting much
my only issue with Eclipse is that it’s five days and the last two are a monday and tuesday. outside of that, oh mama that’s tasty.
The eclipse is on April 8th which is that Monday. I'm assuming they expect people to be wilding that day, so it makes sense they'd go to the next day (or overnight Monday and end it at some point around dawn). But I don't know their plans for that Tuesday.

Will absolutely be buying a 1 day ticket for Billy Strings. Don't need to attend that full weekend though. Hope 49 Winchester and Amanda Shires end up the same day

i graduate that friday and i'm praying he's on sunday so i can shoot down there
Dierks Bentley, Thomas Rhett, Billy Strings, Dwight Yoakum top 4. lineup isn't that bad honestly!
Billy makes any lineup better. Him, Los Lobos and Paul Wall (not sure who Baby Bash is, but if I need to know, someone tell me) are what I'd want to see of what I know.
Friday 5/10 - Thomas Rhett, Clay Walker, Cory Kent, Maddie & Tae, Breland, Colt Ford, Chase Matthew, Mackenzie Porter, War Hippies, Drew Parker, Julia Cole, Jean Watts
Saturday 5/11 - Billy Strings, Dwight Yokam, Warren Zeiders, Los Lobos, The Fearless Flyers, Tracy Byrd, Kidd G, Amanda Shires, Alana Springsteen, Buffalo Nichols, Paul Wall x Baby Bash, Trent Cowie, Drew Ryn
Sunday 5/12 - Dierks Bentley, Midland, Morgan Wade, Drake Milligan, 49 Winchester, Anne Wilson, Jamestown Revival, Scotty Alexander, Braxton Keith, Kate Watson, The Heels
Saturday shaped out really nice for me there. I'll be there that day
I’m not going but that would be the day I’d want to. I’ll be in NB for Memorial Day else I would have gotten tickets to Eclipse in April. We’ll be over there in Tex’s tomorrow for Polyphia in Houston and then Friday in San Antonio. Plan is to hit Hugo’s in Houston tomorrow and meet my boy B on the way on Friday at Burnt Bean which is extra high on my list of favorite TX BBQ. Saturday is likely fuck around and party day though they want to go to Muck and Fuss which I’m sure is fine if not on a 2 hour wait.
Good time in Texas this weekend with a better recap later. Both Polyphia shows were great, and we liked both venues - Bayou Music Center in Houston and Boeing Center at Tech Port. Each had a few issues but overall good places. More when I get back home. We’re probably going to Wurst Fest today if we get motivated.

Texas recap of what I can remember. We got to Houston and met up with Pablo for dinner. We went to Hugo's (photos by him in food thread). Absolutely delicious everything from crudo and ceviche to the mole filet I got. That's probably the best mole I've eaten and certainly up there with the best upscale Mexican I've had (drinks were great too). Hugo's - www.hugosrestaurant.net/
We had VIP meet and greet but decided to keep hanging out driving around Houston and hanging after at the crib before the show and just get whatever swag they had for us after the show (guitar pick, lanyard, tshirt, bag and some plastic sign thing). We got to Bayou Music Center which was a pretty sweet venue. They had a large floor area and an upstairs gallery that wrapped around from side to the back to side. Lights and sound were great there for that sized venue. Only knock on it were that the drinks were super expensive (like $20 for a jack daniel and soda water), so we paid. We got there probably with 3 songs left of Midwxt who is a rapper that was playing with a couple of live musicians. I didn't like anything I listened to before the show, but live it wasn't that bad. Polyphia came on and did their standard set for this tour - Loud > Reverie > Audacity > Goose > 40 oz > Chimera (with back track of Lil West rapping) > O.D. > Icronic > Champagne > The Worst > All Falls Apart > Crush > Culture Shock > So Strange (with back track of Cuco singing) > Neurotica > ABC (with back track of Sophia Black singing) > Euphoria > Genesis > Playing God > G.O.A.T. Highlights were the encore, 40 oz and Champagne. Lots of crowd surfing and jumping in place and a little moshing. We blew out Friday morning for New Braunfels. We met up with my buddy and his wife at Burnt Bean Co. in Seguin for lunch. That was the second time I've been, and it was as good as it was the first time. The BBQ is world class, but the highlights are the side dishes. I saw Chef Ernest and went by and dapped him off and commended him on the Pozole Rojo they are doing now. Damn that's like the best pozole I ever had with some crunchy cabbage and radish in there. Everyone who tasted it loved it.
We hung out in NBTX for the afternoon and then headed down to San Antonio for the final night of the tour. We stopped off at a Mexican restaurant in a strip mall called El Mirasol. www.elmirasolsa.com/menus
Salsa was good there. It was a black salsa which I expected to be super hot but it was actually mild. I got Guisada Ranchero which was pretty good but I would have liked the guisada to have been stewed down a little more than it was. Margaritas were good. This place was f'n packed. It wasn't on the same plane as Hugo's, but I'd eat there again for sure. After that we went to Boeing Center at Tech Port. This was a weird complex I wasn't that sure about what all was there. The arena was obviously but they had a bunch of arrows in the entrance area for a LAN Center among other places within the compound. Apparently it's a technology center with a lot of employees and a video gaming place for recreation on an old air force base. The venue was very nice to see a show at. For whatever reason, about the only two shows this year that didn't sell out for Polyphia were Houston and San Antonio. So while both were packed, there was room in the back to headbang. It was the same show as Houston with just some different improv parts. Only issues with Boeing Center was there was one douche who hit C in the back and claimed to have been moshing (nobody was at that point). So C looked at him and he was dapping off his friends. So he walks over there and asked him wtf was going on. Dude said he was just moshing. C extended a hand but that guy shook his head no at which point he called him a bitch. The guy's friend apologized but he reiterated, "you shouldn't have to apologize for someone else. That guy is a bitch." Nothing came of it, so that was cool. But then trying to get out of the parking lot was insane. It took almost 45 minutes to get to a street that didn't have any traffic, and there were only like 2,700 people there. They should have had some other gates open to let people out or at least have someone waiving a light cone to direct traffic flow existing the lot. Saturday we ended up going to San Marcos to a tiki bar and then grabbed some pizza a few doors down - nothing to write home about but both were good. Party was on, and it's always good to be in Texas for the food, people, partying and shit. I don't ever have a bad time when I'm there.
