I am excited to dig in. I havent listened to anything yet, I just went through that paste article yesterday and wrote down the 4 or 5 artists that sounded most interesting to me, so I recognize the name.
I’ve noticed Newport often has a few undercard acts with ties to the headliners: - St Vincent and Tuck and Patti - Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires - Jack White and a crew of Third Man Records artists

If you could pick 2 reasonable non headliner acts that would do a lot for you, who would you pick. For me, if I got Andrew Bird and Dave Rawlings, I’d be ecstatic. I think Andrew is likely, Dave I’m not sure.

Any pair of Father John Misty, Gillian Welch, Mitski, and Richard Thompson

Gillian Welch and Josh Ritter for me, though I'd be happy with your picks as well

Yea this announcement makes me pretty confident the Black Keys will be a headliner.

What’s a black keys Newport set look like? Do they mail in all the arena hits per usual or do something interesting.
Remains to be seen what this comeback is like, but my hopes aren't the highest...
I'd rather see them at Woodstock than Newport
Yeah my hopes are definitely not high. They have so much potential to actually do something good and they’ve just been really disappointing their last couple tours. Also, sign me up if it means a potential Modest Mouse Newport set. I could see them doing a straight stripped down banjo set and it being wild

Maybe they play a set with just the 2 of them? That would be cool.
It would be so bad ass to see a duo set where they play from all over the catalogue and do some slow ones. They typically just bang out the jammers, but they have some great songs perfect for a Newport set.
Deciding to share my Clashfinder that I usually keep private as I am usually wayyy off. But alas, here is mine. Please let me know what you think and if you have any critiques/have any ideas of who will fill in the rest of the spots: clashfinder.com/s/newportfolk2k19/?user=Andyd17
Thanks guys!
I love looking at these even if they are way off You are not the first person on here to put Amy Ray on Harbor stage.... Maybe it's just because I'm a long(ish) time fan of her solo stuff, but I see her on the Quad (maybe even Fort?), especially because of the band and because of the people she has collaborated with in the past

I trust Jay 100%, but this is the first time in 6 years of going that I’m actually considering selling back my tickets. Deciding on doing so in a few weeks. Maybe I’m just out of touch with the “folk scene” of today, but most of these artists are not doing anything for me. (Lukas, JS Ondara are the highlights so far). Hoping for some bigger names soon!

I'm right there with you! I have to make a decision in the next couple of weeks. There have been past lineups where I'm not familiar with a lot of the artists but this year so far there have been none that I'm absolutely thrilled with. It's a big expense to travel to Newport and I'm really on the fence so far. So I may have two weekend passes plus a parking pass available.

We drive up from Philly and spend a week. It’s about more than just the lineup for us, it’s the whole experience, but I’m just not feeling it so far!
Re: Edie Brickell. Agreed, that's a good song. She's still kind of a one-hit wonderful ("Reel Big Fish" title) in sales, but talented, and that's all I ask for when it comes to Newport performers.
