There's today's announcement! We’re loading up our new cans and heading to Newport Folk Festival® in July as the Official Iced Tea! We are so excited to be on the #roadtonewport and working with @newportfolkfest and we cannot wait to share this incredible experience with all of you! See you in July!
I'm confused as to why people are so convinced that they're done with announcements. With 3 slots left they could have just wanted have the final 3 announcements fall within the same week or they could switch to daily announcements next week with the inclusion of museum and after party announcements. It's wrong to pretend that Newport has a formula. The announcement schedule changes, albeit minimally, but it changes nonetheless every year. Some years it's 2 per week, some years it's 3 per week and it rarely goes the duration of the announcement period without additional changes to the schedule. This year they made their first announcement in December or January - earlier than they've ever announced before. They also did away with the bingo game that they've been doing for a couple years.
They tend to be pretty transparent when they've reached the end of the announcements. If they were done I think we would know.
“More announcements soon” just got removed from Friday.
We aren’t done yet folks.
Which means, I assume, if Saturday has 1 left, it’s not unannounced.
Sets us up for the final 3 next week.
After all these years you'd think I'd recall. Do they announce museum acts after pulling "announcements soon" notice? And if so, is it just themes, or the curator? Memory loss.
I recall announcements in June (Jack White?), and understand the need to delay some announcements. I still think the unannounced is someone interesting or unique, or "fitting" as part of the Seeger finale.

I can't remember either. I think its usually after all the main lineup announcements are done.
Sadly First Aid Kid just announced they're canceling all Summer tour dates for medical reasons. Wish them well. I wonder if that explains no announcement on Friday. There did seem to be a three week gap between their last US date and next Europe date. Newport taking place between those dates.
Speaking of Boston Calling. I'd really really love to see Janelle Monae. I'm not free Friday so can't see her at Boston Calling. I haven't checked her tour dates but it looks like she has Highwomen connections. Reading this online gives me hope....
Brandi Carlile, Amanda Shires, Maren Morris, and Natalie Hemby’s new supergroup “The Highwomen” will play the sold out 2019 Newport Folk Festival on Friday, July 26th.
The Highwomen are currently at work on a record at RCA Studio A, and will be constantly evolving with a rotating crew of special guests like Janelle Monae, Sheryl Crow and more.

They wouldn’t have been my first choice, but only selfishly because I’ve seen them enough times, but they are exactly the type of act I was hoping would be on the lineup. Upbeat. Danceable. Fun.

I can't wait for PTM at the Fort, I feel like that's going to be a great set!
Personally, I haven't seen them in years - the last time I had saw them, it was at the B.O.M.B. Fest in Connecticut back in 2011. What a weird lineup that was: Snoop headlined, and then you had Coheed and Cambria, The New Pornographers, Shpongle, Against Me! and a bunch others I forget off the top of my head.

I've never listened to Portugal. The Man. I know they have a Son Little connection... would be nice to see him pop up again.
I'm listening on Spotify now and recognize this first song Tidal Wave. If you told me this was Twenty One Pilots I would believe you. Interesting add. I've got two months to get caught up on their music. I can't complain though... at least we're getting some indie artists now.
Upcoming Shows: August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher

Try out Makestic Majesty, it’s an acoustic album. I hope they play acoustically

Here's a few songs I'd recommend, some of my favorites that I feel would fit right in at the Fort -

Thanks for the suggestions! Other than the first song I heard everything has been quite good. I'm listening to Sleep Forever right now and it's getting me excited to see them.
